It was Shevani’s first day at a new school in VA in the fall of 2005. In a classroom full of 6th graders, she got assigned a desk right across from a chubby, curly haired, baby-faced boy named Wayne Murray! The years went on and Wayne and Shevani were slowly acquainted as friends. Flash forward to 10th grade, when a post-pubescent, tall-dark-and-handsome version of Wayne (hubba hubba!) was running for Class of 2012 Vice President. Shevani was smitten! At a football game she approached their mutual friend (thanks Aaqil!) and he introduced the two soon-to-be-lovers. On April 26th, 2011 Wayne finally said the 6 most important words in any high-schooler’s life: “Mom, I missed the bus again.” ...JK! He said, “Shevani, will you be my girlfriend?” The rest is history! The next few years brought lots of movie dates, county fairs, road trips, passing intricately folded notes back-and-forth, wearing the same color on Friday’s (just because), and lots of other mushy gushy high school love stuff! The crazy part is, who ever imagines that they’ll still be together with their childhood romance 10 years later?! Maybe it was Shevani’s mom’s cooking, or maybe they are truly soulmates... but something in their destiny has kept them side by side for all these years! Wayne went off to study at UVA while Shevani went to VCU, but the distance didn’t matter. Weekends were always spent at one campus or the other! Suffice to say that if you’ve known these two for any amount of time, you know they’re officially a package deal. Now living back in their hometown where it all began (and where Wayne proposed at their high school!), as Shevani practices medicine and Wayne works hard for the government, they prepare to add a wedding to their long list of side-by-side adventures!
