Norfolk Botanical Garden
Waverly and David spent many hours here during David's time in PA school. It was a nice way to get some fresh air in-between coffee shop and library study sessions. Wear your walkin' shoes if you decide to visit!
Cafe Stella
One of Waverly and David's favorite breakfast spots! They usually stick around to work, study and people-watch. Waverly suggests ordering from their seasonal selection of pastries while David suggests the Granby Sandwich. You can't go wrong with any of their coffee/espresso options!
Lolly's Creamery
One of the best ice cream spots! Waverly and David both recommend a scoop of cookie monster. Waverly would get it in a waffle cone, though David prefers cake cones.
Handsome Biscuit
This is a perfect breakfast spot hungover or not, but we especially recommend if hungover.
Mount Trashmore Park
Waverly and David visited this park often, and usually rollerbladed here. This is a nice area to walk paved paths if you need to stretch your legs (though the botanical gardens are more aesthetic, this place is free!)
Virginia Zoo
If you plan on checking out the zoo, buy your tickets ahead of time! Waverly recommends the reptile house, specifically the frogs. Most specifically the Amazon Milk Frog that David 'adopted' for her birthday in 2021. You have to keep an eye out for him because he's usually tucked away in the back of the nursery that Waverly and David refer to as 'horny jail'.
Nauticus
You can buy tickets to go on the USS Wisconsin or just go to see the ship and walk around the waterside. Waverly and David attended many events here, including galas, lawn concerts, and holiday light shows.
Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint Norfolk
Waverly recommends the Cobra Kai with Jack Brown sauce and a deep fried oreo as dessert. David recommends skipping dessert and ordering 2 Greg Brady's - extra Jack Brown sauce.
Chrysler Museum of Art
This is where Waverly and David got engaged, and where they are getting married! The museum, only a minute or two from David's used-to-be apartment in Norfolk, was a frequent date-spot for the couple. The entire museum will not be open the night of Waverly and David's wedding, so if you're looking forward to checking it out we suggest you go ahead of time!
Elation Brewing
Waverly and David visited Elation many times to sit outside and enjoy the company of friends. There are so many good breweries around, but this one is their favorite! We celebrated David's graduation here with friends and family.
Mr. Shawarma
Waverly and David visited Mr. Shwarma for the first time after a long day of moving out of their first apartment together and into David's Norfolk apartment. Over the next 2.5 years, they ate here many more times! "It's like a way better, and more middle-eastern chipotle" - Waverly
Ocean View Beach
We know that summer is over but if you're craving an early fall trip to the beach without all the fuss of a boardwalk, this is the spot! The beach feels private and there are large breakwaters off the coast that keep the water calm. Perfect for pups!
Hank's Filling Station
This isn't a gas station, but a great bar with outdoor seating and games. It's finally firepit season and this is where you'll want to be! Watch out for your eyelashes!
Cogans Pizza Ghent
Order from this Cogans (Ghent), not the other one (Colley). Seriously... don't order from Colley.
PIXELS Pints & Bytes
Waverly and David love pixels! This is where David told the rest of his family that he was going to ask Waverly to marry him. She had no idea and was too busy showing her mother-in-law to be how to play frogger. The couple returned to Pixels the next spring to take their engagement pictures!
The NorVa
One of Waverly and David's favorite concert venues. They walked in the rain to see Hot Mulligan perform here in 2022. They've seen Hot Mulligan 4 more times since. Maybe 5?
Little Dog Diner
Waverly and David's favorite spot to grab comfort food. We recommend breakfast, root-beer floats, or both.
Volcano Sushi & Asian Bistro
Waverly and David had a Sunday-night sushi date almost every weekend she visited before the long drive home. We recommend the crazy train roll.
The Ten Top
Waverly and David love this spot! The food is always 12/10 delicious. Get whatever the special of the day is - it's probably great!

A great coffee spot with a side of people-watching!
Cure Coffeehouse
Waverly and David grabbed a coffee here one the first time they toured campus after learning David had been accepted into the PA program!
Leaping Lizard Cafe
This is one of Waverly and David's favorite brunch spots. Eat outside where you can see the ducks, chickens, and fancy geese. But watch out if you don't finish your meal!
