We met through Bumble. After weeks of texting and talking on the phone, we had our first date at Nativo in Highland Park on June 24, 2021. Matt brought Alanna flowers, coffee beans, and a chew toy for her dog, Scout. Alanna brought no gifts but she did bring her dog with her as a third wheel. We talked until the restaurant kicked us out and the rest is history.

To celebrate Alanna's birthday, our families got together to watch Marcel The Shell With Shoes On together (a very sentimental franchise for Alanna and her niece and nephews). The first 90 seconds of the movie played and then it transitioned into a 20 minute slideshow of our relationship that ended with a proposal. Matt had the ring box made out of cake. Alanna said "are you going to put it on my finger?" And Matt said, "are you going to say yes?" Shocker: Alanna said yes.
