Once upon a time, my brother was getting married… His wife (my now sister-in-law) wanted to revoke my +1 to their wedding, determined she had found the one for me. And that she did! Garrett showed up alone too, and thank goodness he did. Although we exchanged looks all night, we didn’t actually talk until the wedding was over. Before we knew it, he was driving 3 unfamiliar women to a local bar in Chico called the Crazy Horse. Garrett paid for me to ride the mechanical bull, bridesmaid dress, crocs n’ all (of course, he had to show us how it was really done, being the actual bull rider of the group)! The rest of the night was filled with swing dancing, laughter, and butterflies. We kissed, he drove us back to the hotel, and I flew back home to Florida the next day. We did long distance from that day forward, until I packed up and headed out west a year later! Little did I know, that “redneck karate kid” who was briefly mentioned to me would become my husband one day. Yet when I first saw him, it all made sense. And it still does.

Table Mountain blooms the most beautiful wildflowers in the spring. And it was even more beautiful when I turned around to Garrett on his knee. My first response to him was asking if he was joking. He still swears I forgot the “yes” part…

Fast forward three years, and Garrett and I are still stuck like glue. We have four cats, a fish tank, too many plants to count, and yes, a house! We are navigating being new homeowners and enjoying every step of our life together. Next up: chickens, a puppy, and a little baby Hunt!
