We are so excited to celebrate with you! Our wedding website has been carefully curated to share all the information you'll need for our special day. Finer details will be available once we send out our invites.
As fate would have it, our tenth dating anniversary falls on a Friday this year, so it was a natural choice to say "I Do" at a decade together! We've always laughed with close family and friends, insisting that we wouldn't wait until year ten, but here we are, proving them right in the most beautiful way. And trust us, this is only the start of the many special and sentimental stories we already have tied to our big day.
This story starts with a question for you—how do you hide a proposal from a planner like Kendra? The answer, you have her plan a party. A fake one of course. On Sunday, May 19, 2024, Kendra's Grandma Shorty texted her asking to help coordinate her Grandpa Mike's long-awaited retirement party. Being an event enthusiast, she got to work right away and secured the date and place, Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Java River! Little did she know there was another event in the works and this would trigger phase two of the proposal plan. Shortly after the "retirement party" date was confirmed, the Java crew asked Kendra if she could squeeze in a fun summer photoshoot before the event, and even offered to drive to the location. Marketing Disclaimer: You NEVER turn down an iconic photoshoot or opportunity to be a passenger princess, so you better believe Kendra was shooting pics poolside at the Patton's that day. After an hour of getting splashed in the face and some coffee talk, which were definitely stall tactics looking back, Kendra was on her way back down to the courtyard. Once she arrived back to the shop, the crew insisted she take a look at the beautifully decorated courtyard before heading inside. At this point, Kendra was asking herself, "How could the courtyard be decorated if the coordinator wasn't there?" To her surprise, the Shinto Cowboy Stage was fully decorated with a handmade and lighted "MARRY ME" sign, floral arch, and candles. First Date (Acoustic) by Taylor Acorn playing in the background, and her future fiancé was waiting for her to join him! After the easiest "YES!" of our lives, all of Kendra and Tyler's closest family members came up from behind Main Street to celebrate at an engagement party! We enjoyed catching up, playing "ring toss", making mini s'mores, eating some delicious dinner from Java River, and trying out a few tasty treats from Taterpie's Sweet Treats. We are beyond fortunate to have such special people and spaces in our lives that truly made our proposal perfect! Here are some more fun facts from the proposal day that you won't want to miss: • Kendra almost didn’t dress up that morning—when she finally did, she joked that her outfit would be perfect for a proposal. Tyler’s poker face? Flawless. • Tyler forgot the ring at home. He had stored it in his backpack, and after calling Kendra to see if she knew where it was (and realizing she had no idea), he had to rush between Marshall and Montevideo to make it back for the proposal. Luckily, Becky, Ian, and Teresa are strategic stallers. Speed limits were most definitely broken. •Tyler opened the ring box upside down during the proposal. Kendra kept that a secret until the next day. •Meg and Tyler handmade the "MARRY ME" sign while Kendra was in Bloomington working for the week leading up to the proposal! •Kendra still wished her Grandpa Mike a happy retirement at our joint party...
