Maid of Honor
Skip and I met in 1988 in Burlington, VT where we attended college together. We both struggled to acclimate to our new environment and were desperately homesick. My roommate walked in with her one night. Our connection was immediate, and we were instantly inseparable. We were such an infamous duo that some people weren't exactly sure which one was Skip, and which one was Wanda. Over the past 35+ years, our friendship has withstood the test of time, through bad decisions (Wanda's😁) and multiple moves (Wanda's again 🚚). My mother has often said that she doesn't worry about where I am, because she knows Skip is tracking my whereabouts and safety. (Although Jimmie's adventures are making this A LOT more challenging.) I used to joke that Skip is the daughter my father SHOULD have had. She is an unwavering defender of those she loves, is fiercely loyal and believes strongly in upholding traditions (Long Live Cape Bash!). Her consistent and steadfast love and presence is why I am truly honored to have her standing beside me as I take this next step committing to a life with Jimmie. (...who now loves her as much as I do!)
Best Man
From the streets of Southeast D.C. to the rural roads of Maine. Steve and I have been running together since we were 14 years old and have been inseparable since. Not only did we learn how to survive together, but we also learned how to thrive through the many challenges we've faced individually and together. We quickly learned that humor was something we had in common. Steve, with his quick-witted sarcasm, and I - willing to do anything for a laugh. We were always seen as the comedic duo. It's rare these days to find male friendships that last for 40+ years. It has always felt genuine and natural. We're also both Geminis! We have supported each other for the past 40+ years and have been there for each other through some of life's hardest challenges. I always know that I can go to Steve when I want honest advice or just someone to lend an ear. I can trust that Steve will be there to support me in any way he can. I am proud to call him a best friend and brother. I look forward to having him standing beside me as I commit to a life of love with Wanda.
