Albuquerque International Sunport

From the Sunport exit, take I-25 north toward Downtown/Santa Fe for 21 miles. Take exit 242 for NM-165 Placitas toward US-550/Bernalillo. Merge onto US-550 N. Follow for 2.1 miles. Turn right on Jemez Dam Road and follow signs to the resort Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa.

Venue location. Lovely resort with restaurants, a heated pool, horseback riding, and hiking trails. Pending Covid at the time, they also host yoga classes and Native American story telling and classes, as well as a Kid Club. (These are not available as of January, 2022 but plan to start again if the pandemic has subsided.) And, for any reality TV fans, Tamaya was the location for Katie’s season of the Bachelorette last spring. If you watched the show, it will look very familiar!

Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel (Room block)

Approximately 1 mile from a the venue. Restaurants and gaming. Very few activities for kids at this time due to Covid limitations. We particularly enjoy the steak house, Juniper, at the casino. Reservations are recommended, but you can usually find a spot at the bar. We have secured a block of rooms at the discounted rate of $289.00. Use event code 3044, and reservations can be made at 1-844-466-2378.

About 5 miles from the venue. Restaurants, a sports bar, and gaming. Excellent balloon viewing most days from the grounds. During Balloon Fiesta, rooms can be limited. If you have trouble getting a reservation, let us know, and we’ll see if we can help.

Bernalillo is a suburb of Albuquerque, so, if you'd like to stay in the heart of the city, there are many great hotels in Old Town, downtown, and throughout the city.

Rental Car

We discovered Turo on our recent trip to Hawaii, where rental cars were scarce. It is like Airbnb for cars. You rent a individual's vehicle, picking up/dropping off at various locations. We've never used Turo in ABQ, but it was great in Hawaii, with very reasonable prices. We suggest looking for rentals with multiple positive reviews just to be sure.
