Built from rock extracted during the canal excavation in 1910, the Causeway is now home to a diverse group of restaurants, shops, and clubs. You can enjoy views of Panama City’s skyline and the Pacific entrance to the Canal by car, bike, scooter, foot, or even from the bay on a rented kayak or paddleboard. The Punta Culebra Nature Center operated by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute can also be found on the Causeway.

Visit the mountain village of El Valle, situated in an extinct, prehistoric volcanic crater. El Valle is a very fertile valley filled with bright flowers, lots of trees and various species of animals including the golden frog. An additional highlight of El Valle is the local market which is held every Sunday morning in the market place in the center of town. Next to vegetables, fruit, plants and flowers, you can find handicrafts such as wooden bowls, paintings on wood, hammocks, molas, baskets and ceramics. Prices are usually negotiable.
