My parents went home to Colorado for Thanksgiving in 2017 and left me behind to fend for myself. My mom felt so terrible for abandoning me that she made it her mission to find a family that would adopt me for the day. She decided on Carol and Mickey from the dog park. When we pulled up at the Baer residence for Thanksgiving, Alec was expecting "grandma's friend" to be an 80-year-old woman. I got out of the car and his jaw dropped. Alec got stuck at the kid's table while I was seated with the adults, but sure enough he snuck his way into a seat right next to me while we ate dessert. And he hasn't left my side since!
When we were in Colorado in August visiting family, Alec really wanted to go back to my favorite place, Daniel's Park, after seeing it on a previous trip. So that Saturday morning we headed there after watching Brittany ride her horse nearby. When we got out of the car, I walked over to the lookout but he stayed behind to "take a phone call." When he finally walked up to me, he said "You know I love you... So I have something to ask you." He had this whole speech planned but that was all he could spit out. Next thing I knew, he was down on one knee and I found myself blurting "YES!" as soon as he said "Me." Two girls doing a photo shoot on the rocks came up to us during this time and started snapping pictures. Little did I know that Alec had hired them to capture that special moment. He really put a lot of thought into this proposal and I think he executed it perfectly.
