Martha's Vineyard is a quick boat ride from Falmouth. Drive about 5 minutes to Woods Hole, next to Falmouth, and buy your ferry tickets at the Steamship Authority office (link provided here). The ferry ride is about 45 minutes and the schedule to both Martha's Vineyard stops can be found online. For easiest access to the main town, take the ferry to Vineyard Haven. Check out Oak Bluffs for some of the famous houses on Martha's Vineyard - scooters and bikes can be rented in the town. Ferries can accommodate cars if you'd prefer to bring your vehicle across.
Hyannis has a little bit of everything - a shopping mall, a main street with restaurants and quaint shops, the ferry to Nantucket (plan for an hour ferry on top of the drive), historical Kennedy family sites... the list goes on. Hyannis is a 35-minute drive from Falmouth. There is plenty of parking downtown, you may have to throw a few bucks into a meter.
Although it's a small strip of town, it's such a beautiful one. Check out one of our favorite stores on the Cape, Murphy's General Store, for records, home items, books, candles, you name it. We also love visiting Sativa for home goods or Buoys on Main for quality clothing. For lunch, enjoy some oysters and sandwiches at The Port or sushi and noodles at 3 Monkeys. After lunch, walk to Bank Street Beach for a view of the ocean and the beautiful waterfront homes in Harwich Port. It is a 50-minute drive from Falmouth to Harwich Port. Free parking is available next to the Harwich Chamber of Commerce.
Another beautiful town on Cape Cod with a hub of restaurants and shops on Main Street. Our favorite shops are The Mayflower, Soft as a Grape, and Chatham Clothing Bar. A restaurant classic in Chatham is The Chatham Squire, known for their fried seafood and casual atmosphere. However, if you want something truly great and are willing to go a bit down the road, head to Mac's Chatham Fish & Lobster. You won't be disappointed! It takes about 55 minutes to get to Chatham from Falmouth. There is plenty of free parking downtown.
A must-see town on Cape Cod full of shops, art galleries, restaurants, and history. Walk through the streets and take in the fact that THIS was the place where the Pilgrims first landed (not Plymouth). There are plenty of great restaurants to pop into - our favorites are The Squealing Pig for a twist on classic bar food or The Canteen for fast-casual seafood. Provincetown Brewing Co. is a great place to grab a local beer. Plan accordingly for a trip to Provincetown - it will take you about an hour and a half to get there from Falmouth. There is plenty of parking throughout the town - the MacMillan Pier parking lot is your best bet for easy access to town for low to no cost.
