Tyler and Rachel grew up in neighboring towns and attended the same school during their junior high and high school years at Home Education Partnership (aka HEP). Their paths had crossed, but they did not meet until January 2024. A month prior, at a New Year's party, the owner and principal of HEP, Joanne Juren, encouraged Tyler to reach out to Rachel, who had graduated high school two years after Tyler. Mrs. Juren believed they could become "good friends."...and she was right. Tyler reached out to Rachel and the two agreed to meet for coffee a couple of weeks later. Both felt an immediate connection, began dating, and officially became boyfriend and girlfriend a month later. Their dating involved lots of time with each other, getting to know one another's families, playing games, watching movies, and enjoying fun family events together. During this time, Tyler, who graduated summa cum laude in Computer Science/Cyber Security from Texas A&M, continued working as a Network and Firewall engineer. His job grew to include big projects on a global scale for the company. He moved into an apartment in west Houston close to his job in February 2025. Rachel graduated magna cum laude from the University of Texas MD Anderson as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, passed her board certifications in Abdominal and Vascular specialties, and began working. Who would have imagined an Aggie and a Longhorn falling in love! Despite the long work hours, busy schedules, and distance, Tyler and Rachel prioritized time together. They attended family gatherings, Bible study, and church together, both actively involved in church ministry. As their relationship grew, they began pre-marital counseling with Bob DeGray, Rachel's former pastor. On April 18, 2025, Tyler asked Rachel's parents for her hand in marriage, and on July 19, 2025 (their 18-month anniversary), Tyler officially proposed to Rachel. It is clear that God has brought these two together to glorify Him, and they are excited to begin this new chapter together as God writes their story.
