Josh and Jess were set up on a blind(ish) text "date" that finally led to a real first date on August 31, 2016. Josh came to pick up Jess with dog treats for her over-protective dog, Mildred, and they headed off to tacos and arcade games. Jess fell in love with Josh's tough-guy attitude that wasn't too tough to get the car door for her every time and his sparkling blue eyes and smile. Josh loved Jess's non-traditional questions and smart sense of humor. There was no going back after this date, they both knew at least that much right then. They spent the next year and a half going to country concerts, baseball games, keeping Mildred from beating up Bella (Josh's dog that weighs 40 lbs more than Mildred), and learning how to compromise in the best ways and love each other better and more deeply each day. When Josh and Jess's 2nd annual Cinco de Doggo (Cinco de Mayo with dogs) party rolled around, Jess had no idea what was about to happen. While Jess was worried about cooking more food then could ever be eaten by 100 people, having the perfect decorations and making the house sparkling clean, Josh was asking Jess's dad for his approval and designing an engagement ring with her mom. About an hour into the party, Josh grabbed Jess's hand and asked her to come thank their guests with him (Jess knew something was up right here but never imagined what was to come). They walked to the backyard where everyone happened to be, some with their camera phones out, recording and trying to get the best spot. Josh proposed right there in front of all of their close family and friends on May 5, 2018. So he's lucky she said yes! It's been a whirlwind since their engagement - more concerts (summertime-must), baseball games (summertime-must), and selling one house and buying another (glad that's over). They cannot wait to enjoy a long love-filled engagement and look forward to seeing all the family and friends on lucky Friday the 13th!
