Fonthill Castle

Henry Mercer (1856-1930) built Fonthill as his home between 1908 and 1912. The concrete castle boasts 44 rooms, 18 fireplaces and more than 200 windows of varying size and shape. The interior walls, floors and ceilings are elaborately adorned with an incredible array of Mercer's original handcrafted tiles. Oh, this is also where we are getting married.

Mercer Museum

This 1916 castle houses displays of the implements, folk art and furnishings of early America. Suspended overhead are a Conestoga wagon, whaling boats, carriages and antique fire engines. There are over 50.000 tools representuing more than 60 early American crafts and trades.

James A. Michener Art Museum

Housed within the massive stone walls that were originally part of the Bucks County Jail, the James A. Michener Art Museum is dedicated to preserving, interpreting and exhibiting the art and cultural heritage of the Bucks County region. The museum is named for Doylestown's most famous son, the Pulitzer-Prize winning writer and supporter of the arts.
