We met just as the world ended. I was just a girl, trapped at home with my cat and plants, wondering if I'd get to say goodbye to my students. He was just a boy, slaving away at his kitchen table during the new era of "work from home" hell. Who knew? I asked Jason out first. Later that evening we logged onto Zoom for our first "date," drinks in separate apartments, just in case!! Three weeks later, our first “real” date was perfectly romantic. We had an indoor picnic on the living room floor, and that night we began falling in love. As our love grew, we knew our lives were changing, and FAST! Jason bought a lot in Tennessee and began building our home in Nashville. I tried to not completely break down over the idea of him moving to another state soon. Eventually, Jason made the decision to stay in Dallas with me until we could move together. The sacrifice he made was such a symbolic gesture of his commitment to me, and to us. Fast forward to Valentine’s weekend 2021. We were supposed to be heading off to Nashville for a weekend away. However, there’s no time like God’s time, and God had other plans. The Texas winter storm rolled in, and we were stuck in Dallas. Little did I know that Jason had big, big plans that could not wait. Jason wanted to recreate our first date. We set up a cozy fire, some charcuterie, and poured a special bottle of Del Dotto. Suddenly, my sweet man was STARVING! He began to complain of his hunger, despite all of the food we had in front of us. He NEEDED a REAL meal! I got up to go cook this weirdo a “real” dinner. As I did, he was flying around the house, and even went outside in the 2* weather to “cool off”? As I finished he suddenly reappeared and told me he wanted to give me his gift now. I protested, but he insisted. Jason led me by the hand gently to the spot where he played “our” song and asked me to marry him. We met just as the world ended, but ours had just begun.
