When we embarked on our respective trips to Italy in September 2019, neither of us anticipated finding our soulmate. But that is exactly what happened. When Jenna was finally ready to embark on her postponed solo adventure that she had planned to take with her mom, luck would have it that a certain Australian boy would be accompanying his sister, Lara, and brother-in-law, Kieran, at the exact same time. And, as even more luck would have it, that boy would be on the very same small ferry as Jenna, traveling to the very same port of Sorrento. And, as extreme luck would have it, when Jenna was the victim of a surprise wave that hit the ferry and left her soaking wet, Kieran would kindly offer his towel to Jenna, and thereby introduce himself, Lara, and of course, Reece. And that’s where it all began. It was instant attraction, immediate trust, mutual respect, and an eagerness to be with one another. So much so, that we both rearranged the remainder of our trips and traveled together through Italy. Naples, Rome, Florence – even Jenna’s grandfather's hometown of Monteforte Irpino. We were inseparable until Jenna departed back to the US. But even then, we knew this wasn’t just a “holiday romance.” This was something much more. Jenna visited Reece in Australia in November 2019. And, when Reece visited Jenna in America in December 2019, it was confirmed. This – this was it. Dreams were dreamt. Plans were made. Jenna planned to move to Australia as soon as possible. But the world was caught off guard. Coronavirus took over those dreams and plans. A year and a half of video calls, letters, and gifts sent abroad. A year and a half of tears, frustrations, and failed attempts of seeing one another. But, it was a year and a half that made us stronger than we could have ever imagined. It showed the strength in our love, in our commitment, and our future. After 540 days apart, we were finally reunited. On August 28, Reece asked Jenna to marry him. And so, our love story (finally) continues.
