We met in New Zealand in 2017 while attending a six month YWAM (Youth With A Mission) school. We were friends from day one. A special memory is being baptized at the same time, along with ten classmates, in the Pacific Ocean. When school ended I went home to Wisconsin and Josh returned to Kyrgyzstan (where he grew up with his parents being in the mission field.) We stayed in touch sporadically online for the next year. When Josh came to Minnesota for the summer to stay with his grandparents, he decided to come see me. I had liked Josh since we first met so was hoping he would ask me out. And he did! We started dating June of 2018. Josh's grandparents lived five hours away so we only saw each other every other weekend. In September I went to a Bible school in Germany for six months. Since I was in Europe, I flew to Kyrgyzstan to spend Christmas with Josh and his family. I loved seeing where he was from. My school ended in March at the exact time Josh's second YWAM school started in South Africa. He flew out of his way to come to see me in Germany for just a day before heading to his school. That was the only day we saw each other from January to October of 2019, when he officially moved back to the states. Our relationship really amazes me. In the span of a year we had been in twelve countries on four continents, and had only seen each other twelve days. By the time he got back to the states I was ready to never let him leave again. We worked at a camp this winter and it was wonderful to finally be in the same place. Camp ended in March, right in time for Corona. Because of the lockdown, we couldn't take the trip we had planned with my best friend Kelsie to Montana to visit Josh's relatives. Little did I know, but that threw a wrench in Josh's proposal plan. He still managed to surprise me on March 26th by using a visit to Kelsie who I hadn't seen in three months to throw me off track. I was so excited to see her I had no idea he had a ring in his pocket.
