What is Mehandi? Mehandi (henna) holds a special place in Indian weddings, serving not only as a form of adornment but also as a symbol of love, prosperity, and good fortune. The Mehandi Ceremony is one of the most joyful and vibrant pre-wedding rituals. Traditionally held a day or two before the wedding, it involves applying Mehandi (a paste made from the powdered leaves of the henna plant) designs to the bride's hands, arms, and feet, while close female family members and friends also get henna applied. Vidhya will apply the Mehandi one day before Haldi ceremony (26/08/2025) at her house becuse it will take 5-6 hours to finish. But there will be a Mehandi artist arranged on haldi day (27/08/2025) at backwater ripples resort for the guests whoever wants to apply.

Haldi

4:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Attire : Attire of your preference with Yellow color

What is Haldi? Haldi ceremony is a traditional pre-wedding ritual in Indian culture, is a meaningful and colorful part of our wedding celebration. During this event, family and friends apply a turmeric paste to the bride and groom, symbolizing purification, good health, and prosperity for the couple as they begin their new life together. It also adds a festive and joyful element, blending tradition with dance, fun moments shared with loved ones. Kerala-specific about this event is that the groom will provide the wedding saree (pudava) for the bride. Here is a video-example of Haldi: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_qGkEqyIS5/?igsh=Y2puOHRjaTJ4dmtr If you are not sure about the attire, and if you need any help reach out to us at keralatomalmo@gmail.com

Wedding Ceremony: Two Cultures, One Love 💍🌸

10:00 am - 2:30 pm

Contour Backwaters Hotel Resort & Convention Centre
Alappuzha - Changanassery Road, Changanassery, KL 686101, India

The event will be traditional Kerala wedding. Suggested Attire is Traditional style saree for women and Traditional Jubba and Mundu for Men. Cost for Indian attire will not be more than 1000 kr.

We will help to select the attire for all foreign guests. As soon as RSVP answer and registration confirmed, keralatomalmo@gmail.com will be reaching out asking for specific measurements + costs in case you are interested in having traditional attire. Transportation to the wedding venue from the resort Backwater Ripples will be arranged. After wedding we will be having a traditional wedding lunch with Sadhya, a vegetarian harvest feast. When wedding ceremony is finished we are also arranging a visit to Vidhya's house (volountary). Transportation will be arranged. Reason why we do this is because: Traditionally the newly wedded couple should enter the grooms house after wedding, but our approach to this is that after wedding Vidhya's home in India is officially also Markus home in India. Therefore we would like all of us including guests to go there together. Snacks, food and beverage will be provided, and of course transportation to Vidhyas home and back to the resort after.

Dinner reception: Cheers to Forever! 🎉🥂

4:00 pm - 11:45 pm

Semi-Formal or Dressy Casual: Darker, pastel, or your favorit color are recommended. Women can wear below-the-knee dresses, slip dresses, a dressy skirt and top, or an elegant pantsuit (styled with heels, nice wedges, or formal flats). As for men, opt for a dress shirt and slacks, with the option to wear a tie. Semiformal gives you flexibility on comfort, but be sure not to dress too casually.

The celebrations don’t end with the wedding. After a relaxing free day on Friday where you guests are free to explore the area, jump in the pool or doing a field trip, you are in the evening welcome to join us for a grand reception. Enjoy a sumptuous feast, hold that speech that you have been waiting to say for the bride, groom or both of us and raise a glass to love, and hit the dance floor with us on the final day This event will be more in a western style, buffet and drinks will be available.

For all the days along the way
