The only dress code is this: Wear what makes you happy. Are you happy in a narwahl onesie? Wear it! Does wearing a floor length dress made of sequins and mesh bring you joy? Go for it! Feel like wearing body paint and shorts? Give it a go but mind the rain. Burqua? Great! Jeans and a t-shirt? Of course! As long as you are happy and smiling, it doesn't matter.
A handfasting is an old Celtic wedding tradition. The word is old and has meant a lot of things over time, but is essence it is a promise to be married made between two people, in front of their community, and sealed by the tying of hands. It is in a middle ground somewhere between a traditional Christian wedding and a quaker self uniting marriage. But either way it represents our view that a marriage is contract between two people to care for each other and work towards a happy life in partnership.
We are hoping to keep this ceremony to close friends and family only. If you have a long term partner who we for some reason didn't invite let us know, but our intimate wedding is not the best time for friends and family to meet new people. Please respect that it is a day for us all to focus on friends and family joining in celebration.
If you have an invitation and you have kids, kids are welcome. All of the venues are child friendly and we can't wait to see the kids!
Yes. Please check the hotel page for more details.
2pm. Though if you are always late just put it in your phone as 1:30 and forget you ever saw this page.
There is street parking for both places although we are intending to walk from the park to the restaurant. If you are not up to a leisurely .8 mile walk on flat sidewalk we suggest ubering to the reception location.
Great question! No! We are hoping for an informal and close ceremony in which people can participate rather than just spectate. SO to go with the park setting we will have lots of large picnic blankets for folks to sit on, but no rows of chairs. If however you need an actual chair brought for any reason please let us know and we will do our best to provide one for you.
Yes. If you are genetically or matrimonially related to either the Carharts or the Nielsons we will be having a giant get to know the family barbeque in Silverdale on Sunday and if you are a friend visiting we will be available on Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday to hangout and go adventuring with.
