Alex and I both attended Clemson University for our bachelor degrees. Alex started his college career in 2010 and I was set to start in 2014, around the time that he would be graduating... and I bet you're wondering how we could have ever met. Well, let me tell you. Near the end of his college career, Alex realized that the business route was not for him and that he had a passion for fitness, nutrition, and helping people (a career which he is now pursing and absolutely crushing!). As a result, he switched his major in 2014 to nutrition, thus starting his college career over at the same time that I would be coming to Clemson. I began my college career with the intent to study neuroscience. I would eventually join a neurobiology lab where I recognized my passion for learning and research. It was at this time I decided to pursue a research oriented career path and the first step to achieving this was to take many biology based classes, similar to a nutrition major. In Fall 2015, I met Alex in the first biology class I would ever take. We became friends and would spend the rest of our semester getting through Biology 101 together. At the end of the semester, we lost touch. About one year later, we came into contact again and our once friendship would eventually turn into a love story.
Alex and I reconnected in 2017, were we would spend a lot of our free time getting dinner together, binge watching Friends or How I Met Your Mother, and playing rock band. While many of our friends and family thought we were dating or should start dating because it was "obvious we liked each other," Alex and I would insist we were just friends...and honestly, that was the truth. We just enjoyed each other's company so much that we never stopped to question if we should date or if we were dating...it just kind of happened. We spent increasingly more time together, until we went on our first official date in August of 2017. It was the classic dinner and a movie and I can still remember that night like it happened last week. On October 12th, 2017, Alex took me to downtown Greenville for sushi and a walk in the park. It was on a park bench that he asked me to be his girlfriend and gave me a beautiful emerald necklace. I said yes of course and the rest, is as they say, history.
