How We Met

First Comes Customer, Then Comes Marriage

Ryan and I met in a somewhat different way online. As many of you know, Ryan attends Colossalcon every year, as does my sister Kyra. Getting a room for a con can be hard, and many people tend to room with friends of friends. This was what happened with Ryan and Kyra in 2019. From con roommates they then became facebook friends. In 2020, I was promoting my crochet business and my sister helped me advertise by sharing my work on facebook. Ryan became my first online customer to purchase a custom hat through my website at the time. I was so excited and asked my sister who this guy was. She told me about how they roomed together, and how he seemed like such a genuinely nice guy. I looked him up and what do you know, he's also really cute! Some time passed and he ordered another hat from me. I couldn't be happier to have a returning customer, and couldn't ignore how attractive he was. I noticed his birthday had just passed so I made him a little extra gift to go along with his order. In reality I was trying to get his attention with the sentiment. I'll admit, it didn't work, coming across, as he likes to put it, 'impressive customer service.' Eventually I realized I was going to have to be direct, and thus, I slid into his DMs. "I'm just here for conversation." I said, wanting to be clear that this was not business! It was during our first conversation that we agreed to go on our first date! Though our relationship started in the height of covid, we made things work as best as we could, and soon made our relationship official on July 12th 2020.

How He Proposed

Dinner With A View

July 16th 2022 we set out on our date night to celebrate our 2 year anniversary that had just passed. Reservations at a beautiful restaurant on Mt. Washington, we sat and enjoyed a dinner together with a beautiful view of the city. Having my suspicions, I made sure to wear the ring I usually wore on my left hand, on my right hand instead, just in case. We made it through dinner, and we paid our bill, still no proposal in sight. Ryan had suggested we take a walk along Mt. Washington to take some photos of the view. I was beginning to think maybe I had been wrong, and tonight wasn't the night, but a walk along Mt. Washington sounded nice, and so we continued with our evening. We found a nice spot, and I captured a few pictures of the city. When I finished and turned around I found him behind me, down on one knee. It had been perfect. It felt as though it was just the two of us in that moment. Putting my ring on my finger was such an amazing moment. I can't even describe the surrealness. After spending some more time together there, we began our trip to visit some friends that same evening. I learned on our way there that Ryan had gone earlier in the day to ask my parents permission for my hand, of course receiving an enthusiastic yes from them both. We got to our friends, excitedly telling them about our night, and sharing our joy with people who love us. The night was amazing and I wouldn't have changed anything about it.
