Taking the ghost tour give you a history of the hotel, it is informative and not scary. You will need to make reservations in advance. You might want to book this before you arrive, it fills up fast and you are able to book online.
Step into the Crescent, step into 1886 when the hotel was built. Walk the halls bring your digital camera and hunt for orbs! Go out into the garden and walk around and look for Morris’s grave, he was a cat that used to live in the Crescent. Visit the Skybar on the 4th floor, order a pizza, sit out on the deck and enjoy the incredible view. Check out creepy doctor Baker posters. Go sit in a rocking chair on the back porch and rock away. Walk the grounds where you will see a memorial for Marty Roenigk, and his dog, Marty is the late husband of Elise Roenigk who is the owner of the Crescent and Basin hotels. The grounds offers a pathway down to the heart of the city and several areas to hike around. You will also see an organ that was supposed to be on the Titanic but it was not done in time so it sits in the lobby for everyone to enjoy. If it's cold come inside and sit by the fireplace. The Crescent is a place where everyone feels welcome, dead or alive.
We always go to Ermilio's.They serve roasted garlic at the table and it is great. The food is OK but I have never eaten here sober because you will have a 2-3 hour wait for a table if you go late. They have a waiting area upstairs and the bar is "cash only", they do not take any credit cards upstairs but the restaurant does......interesting. There is always a great group and mix of people so the wait times have never felt that long, some of my funnest memories in Eureka are from sitting on the top deck with a group of 14 strangers just drinking and talking. You will meet people from everywhere and all walks of life.
OMG! What can I say about this place.....the best quiche I have ever eaten. Get the Bacon and Brie quiche it is served with a tiny weed like salad with a great dressing. The artichoke and goat cheese quiche is awesome too! Oscars is in a little house and it is as cute as can be. If it is nice you can sit outside on the porch. I love this place and recomend it 100%! Sarah and I just discovered them on our last Trip and we ate there both days! Oacar's was voted best breakfast place in Arkansas by Southern Living Magazine. Rumor has it is that there lunch is even better than their breakfast. It is a walkable distance from the Crescent if you like to walk.
This store is interesting, a rabbit sits on the counter and gives you your receipt......sometimes with a little spit but I can’t help myself I go in the store every time I am in town and buy something so the rabbit can give me a receipt. The store has interesting items, some just weird and they have hippie type dresses.....there is no rule to what they can sell, spend a few bucks and have the rabbit give you a receipt if that is on your bucket list.
Thorn Crown is a must see if you like unique buildings. Nestled in a woodland setting, Thorncrown Chapel rises forty-eight feet into the Ozark sky. This magnificent wooden structure contains 425 windows and over 6,000 square feet of glass. It sits atop over 100 tons of native stone and colored flagstone, making it blend perfectly with its setting. We originally were going to be married at this chapel but thought it might be nice to stay at the Crescent and have everything at one location. This is a must see and does not take long to view.
Dogwood Canyon and nature park is very pretty. We did not do the tour we went there for lunch which was very good, I had the elk sausage and potato soup with the dogwood salad at the Mill & Canyon Grill Restaurant and it was great, I was very impressed. If you think you are going to drop by for lunch you will still be charged the $15.00 per person fee to eat at the restaurant. Inside is clean and lodge and it was really cool! I would recommend a drop by here if you are willing to pay the $15.00 cover charge. The falls and water are so blue, they are spring fed. They have horseback riding, tram tours and 24 stations to see things and lots of places to hike and fishing options. They have pottery and arrowheads on display.
Branson is not too far from Eureka Springs and Wild World is a great place to visit, the sharks are cool! Everyone I have sent here love it and you wonder if they are following all the laws, I held snakes, spiders, alligators and I fed the sharks meat on a stick and they jumped out of the water to get it. I loved it!
This church sits behind the Crescent Hotel and it is a must see, it is very old. The outside walk to the door is filled with amazing things to see. Saint Elizabeth’s Church has become a landmark in Eureka Springs and is listed on the National Historic Register. The Church’s unique unattached Bell Tower has welcomed thousands of visitors each year from all over the world. They come to admire the simplicity of the stone church which was constructed years ago and which still holds its charm and peacefulness in the fast paced world of today.
Regardless of your religious affiliation- Take a ride up the mountain to see Christ of the Ozark's. The view of Eureka Springs is Impressive. If you sit on the balcony at the Skybar at the Crescent you can see the white Christ up in the hills.
The Basin Park Hotel is owned by the same people that own the Crescent. It has a great location in the heart of the City and the Balcony restaurant has good food and a good balcony to sit on. The Balcony Bar has the best lemon drop martini in town. They have a billards bar on the top floor of the hotel. Parking is down the street from the hotel and you must take a shuttle to get to your car.
OMG! Go here it is awesome! This place was so good, great food a little more upscale. I had the Wood-Fired Cedar Plank Salmon, Sarah had prime rib, Brittany had the Filet, Cindy had the filet and Angie had the back bean sliders. Our meat choices and sides were perfect we all gave this one a thumbs up. The environment was awesome. This is a must eat at place! Great service too!
For those dare devils. I have not done this before but I have never heard anything bad or that anyone died on it so give it a go!
New Moon is a great spa, they offer a variety of services and products. Massages, facials, manicure, pedicures, makeup, hair services, body treatments and a lot more. This spa books up fast so you might want to book your services in advance. This spa is located inside of the Crescent Hotel on the lower level.
This is the funnest bar in town, small but always a blast. We will be hanging out here Friday night before the wedding! Music good bar food snacks and always an interesting crowd.
Taking the trolly ride around town is a good way to see the town for a small amount of money. They have a red, yellow, purple and I think green path. Nice thing to do if the trolley are not too crowded. Following the red path uphill will always lead you back to the Crescnet Hotel (remember that if you are driving in your car and get lost).
This is a great store, the owner makes items out of recycled ties, toys etc. He has a variety of pillow and rugs that are unique. I bought 2 coblestone pillows and we love them. If you are looking for something interesting in a throw pillow or rug this is the place to go.
Uranas is off of HWY 44 (if you are driving in exit 163 off of 44 on your way down). This place is fun and has a lot of fun gag joke type items. Uranas is a must see and the fudge is a must have, their heath fudge is the best! Besides all of the candy and funny t-shirts along with interesting items to purchase they have guns and hunting items in the back room of the store. It is a fun place to stop and poke around.
We cannot and will not recomend staying at the Wanderoo Lodge the Gravel Bar (resturant & bar) is a great place to stop for a drink and a bite to eat. It's an old remodeled house on the Wanderoo property. They offer live music in the evenings.
