At Pedernales Falls State Park, you can camp, hike, mountain bike, picnic, geocache, bird watch and ride horses. On the river, you can swim, wade, tube or fish. A very popular natural feature in Texas located 30 minutes outside downtown Dripping Springs. Reservations are required to visit Hamilton Pool Preserve and must be made online beforehand. To get to the pool, you must take a ¼ mile trail that includes a series of rock steps that descend into the canyons. Good shoes and plenty of water are a must for the trip to the pool and preserve.
Also located about 30 minutes from downtown Dripping Springs, this pristine parkland, open space and reserve land in western Travis County with almost 3 miles of continuous frontage along the Pedernales River is the largest parkland acquisition in the history of Travis County. The sizable Central Texas rock-climbing community views Reimers Ranch as a destination with world-class rock climbing. The active local mountain biking community likewise enjoys Reimers Ranch’s over 18 miles of trails through the classic Central Texas landscape. No reservations required.
Located in the same area as Hamilton Pool and Reimers Ranch, visitors here can take guided tours from an arid savanna through a limestone crevice into a sheltered canyon of lush plant life. At the end of a mile-long path is a gorgeous 40-foot waterfall that cascades into a beautiful, natural emerald pool. Hiking is also available in an “Uplands” area of the preserve. Hiking in this area does not require a guide. Please note that reservations are required to visit, and can be made online in advanced.
Located about 1.25 hours from Dripping Springs, Enchanted Rock is a massive pink granite dome rising above Central Texas that has drawn people for thousands of years. It is a very popular natural attraction, and can get quite busy, so reservations for day passes to guarantee entry are recommended and can be booked online. The summit trail is a quick hike at about 1.3 miles out-and-back, but there are 11 miles of trails in the park besides just the summit trail.
Located about 2 hours and 20 minutes from Dripping Springs, Lost Maples is a beautiful area that is particularly popular in the fall due to its display of beautiful fall colors from its Uvalde bigtooth maples. However it is a beautiful park year around, and visitors can enjoy abundant wildflowers, steep canyon walls, and the scenic Sabinal River. Lost Maples East Trail Loop is a great 5 mile hike in the area with scenic views. Reservations for day passes to guarantee entry are recommended and can be booked online.
Located about 2 hours from Dripping Springs (and out closer to where Cody is from), Hill Country State Park is over 5,000 acres of rugged canyons, scenic plateaus and tranquil creek bottoms, offering primitive camping, backpacking, nature-watching and multi-use trails for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. A great 5-6 mile hike is the Wilderness Trail, Spring Branch, and Twin Peaks Loop. Reservations for day passes to guarantee entry are recommended and can be booked online.
Located 2.5 hours from Dripping Springs, Garner State Park contains 2.9 miles of Frio River winding through 1,774 acres of scenic Hill Country terrain. Visitors can swim in the Frio River, float its waters on an inner tube, operate a paddle boat, hike 16 miles of scenic trails, camp, study nature, picnic, canoe, fish, play miniature golf, geocache and ride bikes. A nice 3-4 mile hike is Old Baldy, Bridges, and Crystal Cave Loop Trail, which offers a scenic overlook of Painted Rock. Located 5 minutes outside downtown Dripping Springs, FairLane is a unique setup offering outdoor seating and cocktails, coffee, and tea options surrounded by a series of food trucks for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also have indoor seating and are kid friendly with a playground on site.
Located in downtown Dripping Springs, Homespun Kitchen and Bar is a farm-to-table style restaurant with mainly American food. The restaurant is very kid friendly (with a playground) and has indoor and outdoor seating with a sportsbar style TV setup.
Located about 20 minutes from downtown Dripping Springs, Salt Lick offers a unique tasting experience right next door to their Salt Lick BBQ restaurant. A beautiful outdoor beer and wine tasting patio makes this a nice choice for also getting food and tastings on a nice weather day.
About 20 minutes from Dripping Springs (and for the Wedding Party, this is right next door to our lodging), Hawk's Shadow is a beautiful winery with sweeping views of hill country on their outdoor tasting patio or a nice indoor tasting room as well. Reservations for tasting recommended but walk-ins are accepted. Also note that no sweet wines are served at this winery, dry wines only.
Located about 30 minutes from downtown Dripping Springs, this is up near Hamilton Pool, Reimer's Ranch, and Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center. This vineyard offers nice indoor and outdoor tasting spaces as well as a farm-to-table restaurant and on-site accommodations. Reservations for tastings are recommended.
Located within downtown Dripping Springs and Kid Friendly. The well-known Vodka company that is famously handcrafted in Austin, Texas actually has its tasting room in Dripping Springs, at the site of their former bottling plant. Visitors can do basic tastings, cocktail and other classes, or just sit and enjoy a cocktail in their indoor or outdoor tasting spaces. Please note that it's illegal in Texas to sell liquor by the bottle on Sundays, so if visiting on Sunday visitors aren't able to purchase bottles to bring home.
