Justin and Rachel first met in November 2015 during their senior year of high school. Their love story began with a text message from Justin. In his first message to her, he didn’t even mention his name and Rachel’s first thoughts were: “Who is this?” and “How did this guy get my number?” Turns out, Justin asked a mutual friend for her number. After Justin properly introduced himself, they never stopped talking. They had their first date at the movies and saw The Night Before. The date was a hit, and they were smitten for each other. During this time, they lived 50 minutes apart, so seeing each other was sometimes difficult. Thankfully, they were on each of their high school bowling teams and saw each other almost every weekend at bowling tournaments. After prom and high school graduation, they both ventured off to college. Rachel attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham for collegiate bowling and Justin attended Kent State University. The distance was challenging, but they stuck by each other. Justin and Rachel graduated college in 2020 and after they came back home, they began their careers. Justin became an underwriter for commercial insurance and Rachel became a litigation paralegal. In March 2021, they rented their first apartment together. Over a year later, they bought their first home in Parma Heights, and the rest is history!
This day was Justin and Rachel’s 7 year dating anniversary. They planned to revisit the ice rink where Justin asked Rachel to be his girlfriend in 2015. The ice rink was located in the heart of Cuyahoga Falls. It felt like the coldest December day, but they made the best of it! They began with ice skating, and while circling the rink they were reminiscing all the moments from the last seven years together. Once they were done, they walked around downtown and stopped for hot chocolate. It was too cold to keep exploring, so dinner was their next stop. They went to Burntwood Tavern for dinner and Justin enjoyed the chicken tenders, of course! Once they made it home, they decided to watch a movie and cuddle up by the fire. The Christmas tree was lit up, and they began watching Elf…oh, how romantic! During the movie, Justin got down on one knee and asked Rachel to marry him… she said “Yes!”
