Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Guests are encouraged to wear garden party cocktail attire. Women are welcome to wear hats or fascinators as is traditional in an English wedding. The wedding will be indoors, but it can be hot in July and there isn't A/C in the historic Pilgrims Rest, so please plan accordingly. Although, some say it can be quite cool in this historic building, even in the summer. “Lounge Suit” This is a typically British wedding dress code for semi-formal. A “lounge suit” is simply a suit. Tie optional. For the ladies, a summer cocktail dress at knee-length is perfect.

Question

What transportation options are available if we don't have a car?

Answer

TRAINS Trains are a highly reliable way of traveling throughout England, with connections to local buses for the last few miles to your destinations. The Battle Station -- which receives trains from Hastings, London, Tunbridge -- is a 10-minute walk from The Pilgrims Rest. The best way to find a cheap train ticket from London to Battle is to book your journey as far in advance as possible and to avoid traveling at rush hour. The train times can vary daily with only a few options (early morning, afternoon, evening), so please look in advance to avoid missing the route and time you need. This parking is free :) A short walk to The Pilgrims Rest. Market Square Car Park Situated behind the library. The lower car park near the school is £4.00 for 24 hours. Next to this car park is a footpath that comes out behind The Pilgrims Rest or it is just a short walk down the high street. English Heritage Battle Abbey Car Park Has a 6-hour limit. It's recommended not to use this parking if staying for the whole event. Please use the other two car parks listed above OR use parking at your accommodation and take a taxi.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

Because this is a destination wedding, we did factor children into our guest list and included their names as well on the RSVP portal so we would have an accurate count. Please do let us know if they are or are not coming, so we can make sure there are enough high chairs and other considerations for them.
