Our Story

The first time I met Kynan was… in the bathroom at Cooper Hall. He was completely focused on cleaning up a sink full of blue paint, and we both minded our own business—just two strangers passing through a moment. The second time was at a KKPsi probate in The Pit at WSSU. I was serving as SGA Vice President, and he—boldly—walked straight to the front of the crowd, ignoring the red sea of people already there. Naturally, I let him know that wasn’t okay. He smirked, said something slick, and went on to enjoy the rest of the show. The third time? We were both teaching math at Hairston Middle School. My 6th grade students shared a lunch table with his 7th graders. I complained to him that the table was always dirty. Without missing a beat, he hit me with, “You should teach bell to bell.” From that day forward, I cleaned my own table—and I did not like him. At all. Fast forward about six years… I was scrolling on Instagram and saw that Kynan had started a new job at Central. No idea why we were even Instagram friends, but I slid into his DMs to congratulate him on becoming an Eagle (see below). (Still not totally sure what possessed me, but here we are!) That message led to our first date—Kadence came too and promptly ate all my bacon at Magnolia Blue. That’s also where he proposed in his own way, on his own time, with all the details: Family. Friends. Food. Flowers. And a whole lot of love. What I originally thought were just a few funny run-ins turned into the best part of my story—our story.
