Wedding Party

Welcome to the party! Meet some of our friends and family who have been with us through thick and thin. We are ecstatic to have them by our side as we tie the knot! We asked them all to put together some life updates, fun stories, and shared warm memories. They were a joy for us to read through. Now, your turn - enjoy getting to know them better through the lens of our relationship!

Alexa Jedryka

Maid of Honor

Alexa first met Nika on the very day Alexa was born. Alexa not only sees Nika as an older sister but a mentor, a best friend and a role model throughout the years. Alexa has too many memories to count with Nika but some of her favorite include sleepovers in Nika’s room when they were young, spending summers as little kids building vehicles and riding them around the block, and recent weekends spent together in each others current cities. Alexa is currently studying nursing at the University of Cincinnati. She hopes to take that degree even further and become a pediatric nurse practitioner. In her free time, Alexa enjoys playing with her dog, spending time with friends, and painting. Alexa couldn’t be more excited and honored to be standing right next to Nika on one of her biggest days!

Sloan Johnson

Best Man

Sloan is Marshall’s younger brother and is living in Northeast Minneapolis. He is currently working at Medtronic as a Manufacturing Test Engineer. Sloan enjoys camping, hiking new trails, and taking pictures along the way. Growing up as brothers, Sloan and Marshall would toe the line between best buds and worst enemies. When Marshall noticed Sloan starting to win some of the scuffles, of course best buds won out! They share so many memories - from playing Pokémon cards as kids to late night carp fishing in the BWCA. Sloan could not be more excited to be Marshall's best man!

Emilia Jedryka

Maid of Honor

Emi is Veronika's youngest sister. Right now, she is meeting with the swim team via Zoom, chatting with friends, and keeping in shape for swimming. Emi followed in Veronika's footsteps as a competitive swimmer. Some of her favorite memories/moments with Nika are bonding over swimming and receiving Nika's wise advice :) She loves going on vacations with Nika  and goofing around in all the places they have been (with Lecha too!) ;) Emi is so excited for Nika and Marshall to start this new chapter and SO excited for the wedding!!

Lucas Borg

Groomsman

The first time Marshall and Lucas met was in the basement of their great Aunt’s house during a Thanksgiving family gathering. Naturally, they ended up wrestling and probably getting into some sort of trouble. Lucas is an Air Force dentist currently stationed in Germany. Possibly the most fun year of his life was spent living in Washington, DC with his cousin, Marshall. It is safe to say that Marshall and Lucas ran the Navy Yard District. They had a corner on the pizza, ice cream, apartment and parking businesses; not to mention the Washington National’s baseball scalpers were in their pocket. The most important part of that year was the bond that was formed through heart to heart conversations. Encouraging each other in walking with Christ and living the full life God has for us.

Jessica Chen

Bridesmaid

Jess first met Roni as her host for MIT’s Campus Preview Weekend. Through countless hours in and out of the pool together since that short weekend, they’ve shared laughs over everything: from Jess’s face mask that turned her into a cloud, to Roni’s pre-race monkey dance, to their unparalleled ability to make the craziest faces on snapchat. Currently a medical student at Brown University, Jess loves spending her free time baking or exploring the outdoors, and is so excited to be a part of this wedding!

Dan Corney

Groomsman

Dan Corney works as a consultant at Accenture and currently lives in Somerville, MA with his girlfriend Maddie, one of Veronika's bridesmaids. Dan met Marshall at MIT's campus preview weekend, when both of them were looking for a person to convince them that MIT was right for them. After deciding to be roommates freshman year, through the unification of a broken dollar, and through the ritualistic bonding of brothers, their friendship was guaranteed. Together and with their squad of friends, Marshall and Dan formed memories that will last a lifetime - from late nights baking cookies in Chi Phi to escorting potted plants around Prague. Dan loves Marshall like a brother, and though they currently live in different cities, he knows that his world would not be the same without Marshall in it.

Teresa de Figuieredo

Bridesmaid

Teresa de Figueiredo is a proud Texan who currently works in NYC at Flatiron Health. She met Roni their freshman year on the MIT swim team and they have been close friends ever since. Teresa and Roni have had so many adventures with some of highlights being Tech Twinkles, gelato & churro runs at midnight in Madrid, Baker hangouts, Los Bebes Thelonius meals, swimming, Portugal (once by plane, once by train), piggyback picture posing, NYC walks, & long phone calls. Teresa is so blessed to have Roni in her life and so full of joy to be part of Roni & Marshall’s special day!

John Drago

Groomsman

John is currently buried under a pile of books as a medical student in Boston. He hopes to claw his way out in time for the wedding. John and Marshall met early in college after joining the same fraternity. He considers himself fortunate to have had the opportunity to play baseball with Marshall and witnessed the crafting of Marshall’s perfect collegiate ERA. John and Marshall grew close over the course of college, having shared many experiences together in the same fraternity. They also were co-team leaders for the Mechanical Engineering Senior Capstone course. After Marshall started dating Veronika, John was fortunate to get to know “Roni” better. He couldn’t be happier for Marsh and Roni and is honored to be a part of their marriage ceremony.

Alexa Johnson

Bridesmaid

Alexa is the sister of the groom. She teaches 2nd grade at a charter school in Minneapolis and enjoys running, biking, and yoga in her spare time. Alexa and Veronika first met (briefly) in the MSP airport. Veronika and Marshall were just passing through, on their way to a camping trip. Alexa and Veronika have enjoyed many adventures traveling, hiking, canoeing, and camping. They share a love for competition- especially when it comes to beating Marshall in triathlons.

Nicholas Fernandez

Groomsman

Nick and Marshall met as college freshmen on day one of MIT football camp, quickly bonding over sharing the same position and both having wrestled in school. They soon rushed the same fraternity and started a 3 year stint as roommates. Over the years the two have shared countless adventures, including getting lost in Budapest, sleeping in a quinzhee on the streets of Boston, and accidentally trespassing into Canada while canoeing the Minnesota boundary waters. Nick is currently a Robotics Performance Engineer in Boston, and looks forward to more adventures in the future.

Madeleine Severance

Bridesmaid

Maddie works in Boston as a software engineer at Spyce, a food technology startup. She met Veronika in the fall of 2013 as they began their freshman year at MIT together, living in the same dorm, becoming teammates on the swim team, and rushing the same sorority. They have bonded over their shared love for ice cream. Whether they were getting some delivered for a late night study break, accompanying their episode of Game of Thrones with a bowl, or going out to one of Boston's many ice cream parlors during the two years they lived together post-grad, there was never a missed opportunity to treat themselves. She is most grateful for the fond memories and support Veronika has given her throughout the past years and looks forward to the many years of friendship to come. She is truly #blessed.

Matthew Fisher

Groomsman

Before Matt sold his soul to the dark arts of finance, he first met Marshall their freshman year of college during a rush event… probably? What may have been an unremarkable beginning blossomed into an unforgettable friendship. Whether it be miraculously acing senior fall, defending summoner’s rift, running the cornhole table or setting Cask’s dance floor on fire, Matt and Marshall have always been and will forever be an unstoppable duo. A duo second only to Veronika and Marshall (which of course Matt set up).

Hannah Huynh

Personal Attendant

Hannah met Roni during their freshman year at MIT on the swim team, and throughout their time in college, Hannah had the joy of being in some group projects with her as a fellow course 2. From laughing about why the YouTube video "big summer blowout" was in her recently watched history to spending a Los Bebes' getaway weekend in Naples last summer, Hannah so cherishes being around her loving, fun, and bright personality. Currently, Hannah lives in the Bay Area designing the hardware for the next generation of Google Pixel phones. She can't wait to celebrate with everyone this summer!

Zachary Duguid

Usher

Zach first met Marshall when he visited MIT campus for an overnight football visit and Marshall was his host. Since they first met in Jan 2014, Marshall shared stories of growing up in Minnesota and going on trips to the BWCA - he described the Boundary Waters as his favorite place on Earth. Fast forward to June 2019, Marshall and Veronika organized a BWCA trip to share their special place with a group of first-timers, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. While living together in undergrad, Zach and Marshall enjoyed a range of activities, from late-night wrestling matches to heartfelt discussions on belief and philosophy. Currently, Zach is finishing up a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering where his research focuses on underwater robotics.

Tammy Tai

Personal Attendant

Tammy is currently a research scientist at Lyndra Therapeutics, a biotech start-up in the Boston area, where she first met Veronika when they were both freshmen on the MIT varsity swim team. She initially got to know Roni as the teammate who led by example and never failed to cheer you up - even if you got the stomach flu right before conference championships. Over the years, Roni has proven to be the most kindhearted and loyal friend (with impeccable pop music tastes). She is an irreplaceable joy to be around, whether you're finding the *perfect* bar in Montreal, soaking up the sun in Florida, or rocking out at live concerts. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Austin de Maille

Usher

Austin and Marshall met during the strenuous two-a-days of football their freshman Fall. Throughout college they remained very close, playing IM dodgeball, racing 2.007 robots, and co-leading a bible study. One day Austin and Marshall will be a dream team on the Amazing Race; they need to stop procrastinating on submitting the application video. Austin recently left his job as a mechanical engineer at Intuitive Surgical to pursue a dual MS/MBA back at MIT.

Emily Tsang

Personal Attendant

Emily is currently working in NYC at a finance/tech startup, but despite the distance, her and Roni’s friendship has remained super close. Roni and Emily first met during MIT’s campus preview weekend the spring before freshman year and have been close friends ever since then! They have made many incredible memories together - being Course 2 buddies, hanging out in Baker, adventures in Boston, traveling all over - with many more to come. She is honored to be a part of Roni and Marshall’s big day!

Isabella Volkl

Personal Attendant

Bella works at Apple as an Operations Program Manager for iPhone launches. She met Veronika through the swim team and by joining the same sorority in Fall 2013 at MIT. Veronika quickly became one of her closest friends and someone Bella always wanted to spend more time with. The number of laughs they have shared together is countless and Bella feels so #blessed to have Veronika as a part of her life and for getting her through all the crazy times in school. They have so many memories in the pool, Boston, traveling and every time they catch up, it feels like no time has passed. Congratulations you guys and Marshall you are a lucky guy!
