It was a good old fashioned blind date. Viktor was catching up with his mentor, Nasheen, bemoaning how difficult it was to meet somebody and would she perchance happen to know any single ladies? As it happened, Nasheen did know one ... her dance buddy, Veronica. Then came the pitch: would Veronica be interested in going out with this guy who was very nice and smart and okay maybe a little nerdy? Sure, why not. We met at Snakes and Lattes to play boardgames on a chilly Saturday afternoon. (One half of this couple remembers just how chilly because Viktor was LATE.) After setting up a game that never got played, we spent the next several hours talking each others ears off.

It was a random Tuesday. Viktor had originally planned for it to be a very un-random day -- April 21, our Met You anniversary. But the ring arrived, and he couldn't wait. So it was a random Tuesday. After work, Viktor said he had a special date night planned, so dress nicely. They arrived at Nathan Phillips Square where Viktor insisted on leaving his coat in the car -- fancy blazer only! -- even though it was freezing. How suspicious ... Veronica should have thought but didn't. Viktor led the way to the elevated walkway overlooking the square. Did Veronica remember this place? But of course. "This is the place we stood on a warm July evening looking into each other's eyes thinking, 'I could do this forever.' Why do you sound so nervous?" By the time Veronica looked over, Viktor was on bended knee fumbling with the ring he was pulling out of his jacket. Of course the answer was yes.
