It was Friday, August 26, 2011, and New Student Orientation was under way. The parents had finally left their baby college students in the care of the Greenville College staff, and the resident chaplains ushered all of us into traditional church pews in a quickly-filling chapel. The "pep rally," as Urri calls it, was about to begin, and my roommate and I were lucky to find seats. That year, our school was best known for it's ever-growing sports program, which resulted in the boy's side of the chapel filling up three times faster than the girls' side. Guys who came in late began to sit on the floor of the middle aisle, hoping not to be stepped on as more athletes poured through the wooden double doors behind them. As I settled in next to my roommate in the not-so-full ladies' section, two guys looking for a place to sit caught my eye. They were really late, and announcements were just beginning. My roommate looked at the empty seats next to me and beckoned the boys to come sit beside us. The tall guy (Urri, of course) looked a bit hesitant, but his roommate (shout out to Daniel Lopez!) didn't miss a beat, scooting his way into the middle of the aisle with Urri right behind him. As college faculty and staff ran over dorm rules, I stole a glance at Urri. I don't think I'd ever met anyone so tall or quiet! Daniel introduced himself to my roommate and I, spurring a four-way introduction between all of us. When it was Urri's turn to introduce himself, he gently shook my hand, looking up just long enough to see me smile. When he met my gaze, he promptly blushed and stumbled over his words. I'd never met anyone so bashful, and I've teased him about it ever since!
