Veronica and Michael met at the High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn in 2016 — both brand-new teachers just trying to survive their first year. Veronica was the visual arts teacher; Michael taught history and special education. They quickly bonded over their shared Staten Island commutes, traffic woes, and the daily parking panic that comes with teaching in Brooklyn. What started as a friendly connection turned into a genuine friendship built on laughter and support. Michael secretly had a crush on Veronica early, but did not make a move until a holiday party where they finally got to hang out more outside of work. By 2019, their friendship had grown into something special, especially once they discovered their shared love for board games, food, travel, and Halloween. Their first date in July 2019 — dinner at The Melting Pot and retro gaming at Yestercades in Red Bank, NJ — set the tone for their relationship: a mix of fun, laughter, and just the right amount of competition. Since then, Veronica and Michael have made it a tradition to host annual Halloween costume parties and epic game nights with friends and family. On October 26, 2024, Michael proposed to Veronica at the beautiful Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ, on the Monet bridge replica — a perfect moment that captured their love of art, adventure, and a little bit of magic. They can’t wait to start this next chapter together, filled with love, laughter, travel, creating, and some (or a lot) of board games!
