Question

What is the date, time and location of the wedding?

Answer

We will celebrate our wedding on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 2 pm. The wedding and reception will be at the Quinta do Lumarinho, in Sintra, Portugal. The Quinta do Lumarinho is located about 15 minute drive to the northeast of downtown Sintra. Guests should plan to arrive to the Quinta by 1:30 pm, so that the ceremony can begin promptly at 2 pm.

Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

Head over to the homepage and click on the RSVP button to let us know whether or not you'll be joining us in Sintra. You will also be able to let us know about food allergies and other dietary restrictions there. We need your final RSVP by Wednesday June 21st.

Question

Are children allowed at the wedding?

Answer

Absolutely! We will also have a small, private space if parents will need a place to let their little ones nap.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

No, we don't have a dress code for the wedding. Guests should feel free wear what you like! Generally the weather in Sintra in early July is warm. The ceremony and cocktail hour will take place in the gardens of the Quinta do Lumarinho, so you should dress for warm summer weather and bring a light, warmer layer because the evenings tend to cool off and the reception will be indoors and air-conditioned.

Question

How do I get to and from the wedding?

Answer

The Quinta do Lumarinho is located about a 15 minute drive away from downtown Sintra. We have reserved a bus for our out-of-town guests to get to the wedding, but we have a limited number of seats. Please use this Google Doc for more details on the buses and to add your name and contact: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1a3oXueeG2W7FEsvJEFRmeBJecBLsQTcR2UaejoaJIiE/edit. We will contact you to confirm whether you have a reserved seat on the bus. If we are unable to reserve a spot for you on the bus, you can get to the venue from downtown Sintra by rideshare or the official Green and Black taxis that queue up at the Sintra Train Station. Leaving the wedding, you may need to be a bit patient waiting for rideshares. We also have the number for Taxintra, a 24 hour taxi company that operates in Sintra: +351 219-138-018. We'll also create a Whatsapp Group for the weekend to help folks to coordinate rideshares. If you'd like to give us a physical gift or to send us a check, please mail it to our home address (828 W. 33rd Street, Baltimore, MD 21211)---we've already arranged for someone to pick up our mail. If you'd like to make a financial contribution to our Honeymoon Fund, our Date Night Fund, our Home Improvement Fund, or our Home Ceramics Fund, you can make electronic contributions to our Venmo accounts (@mjfresh07 and @Veronica-Sousa), Paypal (@MAJJ2011), MbWay (+351 967 842 395), or Zelle (+1 410-292-3349).

Question

Can we take photos and videos at the wedding?

Answer

Yes! Please take photos and videos during the ceremony and reception. We will have a professional photographer, but we do not have a formal videographer. Our friend Jacko will take some video during the ceremony and at key moments during the reception, but please help us out by taking videos on our special day and uploading them here: [LINK FOR FILE TRANSFERS]

Question

I'm visiting Portugal for the first time! How should I pack for my trip?

Answer

Lisbon can be quite hot in the summer, so pack lightweight and breathable clothing to stay comfortable. It's also a good idea to check the local weather forecast closer to your travel date to make any necessary adjustments to your packing list. 1. Wedding: Don't forget to pack your outfit and accessories for the big day! 2. Clothing: Lightweight and breathable tops, shorts, skirts/dresses for the daytime; light pants and jeans for cooler evenings, light sweatshirt for cooler evenings; comfortable walking shoes or sandals; swimwear, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection if you plan to visit the beach; a lightweight rain jacket or umbrella for unexpected showers 3. Accessories and Essentials: If you have a prefered brand for toiletries and beauty products you should plan to bring them with you because they will likely not be available here; Universal travel adapter for plug-in electronic devices; Travel documents, including passport, ID, and copies of important documents; Money, credit cards, and some cash in the local currency (Euros)

Question

I don't speak Portuguese? Will that be a problem?

Answer

No you'll be ok! We'd definitely recommend that you play around with DuoLingo or some other easy language learning app in preparation for your trip, but many people in Lisbon and Sintra will speak English. This is especially true for most customer-facing workers in the service industry (food service workers, hotel employees, tour guides, etc.). The one exception is often cab drivers and some Uber drivers, who tend to be a bit older. One strategy in this circumstance is to keep your Google Maps handy just in case.

Question

Can I use my U.S. smartphone while I'm in Lisbon?

Answer

We recommend that you either plan to add an international plan to your phone (with some data) or to purchase a SIM card at Vodaphone or another Portuguese phone carrier. You will be able to use your smartphone on WIFI at a minimum, but you will have to rely on public WIFI hotspots.
