FROM BERKELEY TO BLISS!
They first met at The Berkeley Institute in Bermuda during the 1980s. Vernelle was a first-year student, and Robert was in his third year. She took notice of him—he was probably one of the tallest boys in the school, and, for a Somerset guy, he was pretty cute! Robert, on the other hand, barely paid her any attention. Sure, she was a tall, adorable St. George’s girl, but she was younger than him—and she had that famous Fox gap in her teeth.
Vernelle had a high school crush on Robert, and he knew it. But back then, he would simply say a casual hello and keep walking.
As a teenager, Vernelle moved to the U.S., and although she frequently visited Bermuda, their paths barely crossed—until almost 30 years later. Thanks to Shelly (Vernelle’s cousin and Robert’s high school classmate), they reconnected, and Robert could no longer just walk on by her.
Now, over three decades later, their story has come full circle—only this time, they're walking side by side forever.
