Things To Do

Here are some of our favorite things to do in the Green Mountain Falls area!
Pikes Peak

Pikes Peak

CO 80809

We hiked 13 miles to the top, but you can drive up there too! Enjoy Pikes Peak at your leisure on the safe, scenic Pikes Peak Highway. Encounter some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world as you wind your way through an alpine wonderland, mountain reservoirs, beyond timberline, overtaking the clouds... all along the way to the 14,115 foot summit of America's most famous mountain.

Manitou and Pike's Peak Cog Railway

Manitou and Pike's Peak Cog Railway

515 Ruxton Ave, Manitou Springs, CO 80829

This has been closed for the last year or so for reconstruction, but it's open now! The Cog has been climbing Pikes Peak since 1891. We are proud to be one of the most unique experiences in the country. Recognized as the world’s highest cog railroad, The Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway is an important part of the heritage of the Western United States. Taking this journey is like walking the footsteps of history, and now the adventure is even more iconic and inspiring.

Manitou Springs: the 3rd friendliest city in the US!

Manitou Springs: the 3rd friendliest city in the US!

Manitou Springs, CO 80829

There are numerous natural mineral springs dotted throughout Historic Manitou Springs and are still available to the public. The native tribes considered the eruption of bubbles in the mineral water the breath of the Great Spirit “Manitou.” The first westerner to discover the healing waters was Dr. Edwin James. He was also the first American to conquer the elusive Pikes Peak. Stories of the mountain and the healing mineral springs inspired General William J. Palmer and Dr. William A. Bell to visit the area in 1868. They decided that the Pikes Peak region would be a great resort area and began carrying out this vision. In the early 1890s, the town’s mineral springs and clean mountain air established the area as a health resort, attracting large numbers of tubercular patients, medical professionals, celebrities and tourists to Manitou Springs. Today, Historic Manitou Springs is a charming town that is full of high-caliber artists, galleries, unique shops and restaurants.

Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center

Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center

4729 Twin Rocks Road, Divide, CO 80814
, (719) 687-9742

Dan and Allison took the tour when they were in Green Mountain Falls in May of 2020! The Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center is one of very few sanctuaries in the United States which has been certified by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The center is home to wolves, coyotes and fox that each live and thrive in large wooded enclosures that provide privacy, sanctuary and stimulation for these amazing and beautiful animals. Visitors can take an hour tour to meet all of the resident animals, learn their histories, and gain a better understanding of how they and their habitat are being threatened and what people can do to help. Each tour culminates with a group “wolf howl.”

Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods Road, Colorado Springs, CO

Allison and Dan visited the "garden" in May of 2020! Explore Colorado Springs' paradise in one magical stop. Garden of the Gods Park is a registered National Natural Landmark. Imagine dramatic views, 300' towering sandstone rock formations against a backdrop of snow-capped Pikes Peak and brilliant blue skies. This world-class Visitor & Nature Center and museum is the most visited attraction in the region with all new interactive exhibits. Learn how the amazing red rocks got there with the NEW Geo-Trekker theater experience, shown every 20 minutes. Delight in one of Colorado's most photographed views while eating in our glass-enclosed café or from our terrace overlooking Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. Where else can you eat inside a postcard?
