Paris is the obvious choice for a visit near our wedding, but we loved Rouen! It's a beautiful, walkable city of ~110,000. The French call Rouen "the city of 100 bell towers" for its many beautiful cathedrals.
The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen has an amazing permanent collection that is free to visit, including many Monet paintings.
There are many amazing cathedrals and churches in Rouen, but this one is the most spectacular. It also includes an exhibit about Joan of Arc, who was killed in Rouen.
If you like Belgian beer, Delirium is one of the classics, and they have a multi-story bar in the city center of Rouen.
This is unironically one of our favorite coffee shops we've been to in all of Europe. A lovely terrasse and excellent coffee!
Monet's house in Giverny, where he painted his famous water lilies series, was preserved as a museum.
