Alcázar was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987 and is possibly the most iconic site in Seville. It is also the home of the royal family when they visit Seville, and as such is the oldest royal residence in Europe still in use. Parque de María Luisa (María Luisa Park) is a public park that stretches along the Guadalquivir River in Seville, Spain. It is Seville's principal green area. Plaza de España, nested in the beautiful Maria Luisa Park, is a spectacular sight that you cannot miss. One of the most photographed spots in historic Seville, and yet many are surprised to learn that it’s not even a hundred years old. In fact, the plaza was created for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition World’s Fair. The grand semi-circular plaza is a feast to the eyes with its coral bricks and beautiful blue and yellow titles. Along the perimeter of the plaza, you will find a canal that you can tour by boat in the summer. The Metropol Parasol, popularly known as the Mushrooms (Las Setas) is a five level wooden structure. The upper level contains a lookout point and a panoramic route that covers most of the area.
