We met on February 1st, 2022 (Chinese New Year so our first date included real fireworks, not just the metaphorical kind). Our first date was a walk down by the waterfront in Tacoma, WA. It was February which meant it was nice and chilly so both of us were trying to casually not let the other one see ourselves wiping our noses throughout the whole date. That first date we ended up walking for over 6 miles, just chatting and getting to know each other. The second and third date included each of us cooking for the other one since we found out we only lived around the corner from each other. Vaughn was trying to impress me with his cooking which ended in a slight disaster because his roommate ended up being home and was making fun of his cooking skills (Vaughn accidentally threw the whole cilantro bunch in without chopping it up). A week after we started seeing each other, Vaughn ended up meeting most of my family because we are very into outdoor activities and for his birthday he requested to go snowboarding at the mountain where my family happened to be skiing that same weekend. Thrown into the deep end, right from the beginning but he handled it like a champion. Toss in a couple more ski trips and by the end of March Vaughn had found out that he had gotten accepted to a Doctorate of Physical Therapy program down in San Antonio, Texas. Even though we had only been dating for about 2 months, we decided that I would move with him during the summer and we would embark on a new adventure together for the next few years down in San Antonio. Between our love of the outdoors, different types of racing, and fitness. Plus our love for Fionnagain, us being together has always felt right. It didn’t matter the length of time we had been seeing each other. Being able to pack up and move to a completely new state (I have never lived outside of Washington state before) without any major hiccups or disagreements has solidified our love and commitment to each other. Now after almost two years of living in Texas and one romantic Scottish castle engagement later, we are moving again this time to North Carolina and will be celebrating our love with friends and family while we are there. Not before getting legally married at the Bexar County Courthouse first. Looking forward to this new year and what our future holds! P.S. Fionn, doesn’t always get along with everyone he meets but since the beginning has always completely loved Vaughn and they have become best friends. That’s the moment I knew Vaughn was the one.
