Charlie's Bunion Hike
We love this hike! It is about 8 miles roundtrip and offers panoramic views of the Great Smoky Mountains. Just be sure not wear Chacos like we did!
Cades Cove Loop
Cades Cove was one of our first dates - it is a great place to drive around or if you go early enough - to bike! It is a winding 11 mile road with pull-offs at cabins, trails, and other beautiful viewpoints.
Chimney Tops Hike
A great hike with lots and lots of stairs! After the fires a few years ago, the final leg of the trail has been blocked off, but you can still see some great views of the mountains and enjoy a good workout!
Clingmans Dome
Clingmans Dome is a great spot for those not looking for much of a hike. After a short walk up a paved road, you reach a tower with 360 degree views of the mountains. From this area, you can also set off on a wonderful hike to Andrew's Bald. The link below has more information on that!
The Obed - Rock Climbing Area
While it isn't the Red River Gorge, the Obed holds some great spots for those looking to rock climb - be sure to ask for specific directions because we got very, VERY lost the first time!
Downtown / Old Town
Knoxville has some great spots for dining, music, and activities! Gay Street, Market Square, and the Old Town district are some of our favorites. Be warned, it is a home University of Tennessee Football game, so it will be crowded!
Foothills Parkway
The Foothills Parkway is only moments away from Maryville, and has always been one of Megan's favorite places! Drive down to the fire tower for a very short hike to views of Maryville and the Smoky Mountains, or drive toward Townsend on the new stretch of the Parkway that just opened this year after decades of construction!
Vienna Coffee House
Vienna Coffee is one of the highlights of Maryville. This coffee shop is home to local artists, musicians, and some very tasty drinks!
