FAQs

The Wedding Website of Rachel VanProyen and Jesse Pratt
Here, you'll find answers to common questions about our wedding day, from the schedule and dress code to travel tips and accommodations. We hope this helps make your experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible. If you have a question that’s not covered here, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help!
Question

What time does the ceremony and reception start?

Answer

The ceremony will start at 5pm and will last about 20 minutes. We recommend planning to arrive 15 minutes before; we don't want anyone to miss the big moment! The reception will follow immediately after, and we’ll be celebrating until around 9:30 or 10 p.m.

Question

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

We’re going for semi-formal to cocktail attire with a garden party theme for the ceremony and reception. Feel free to wear bright colors to add to the festive atmosphere! Both the ceremony and reception will be indoors, with a brief cocktail hour where guests will have the option to step outside while still being close to the reception hall. If you plan on dancing with us, we recommend bringing comfortable shoes! Comfort is key while still dressing up for the occasion.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

If your invitation includes a plus-one, feel free to bring them along! If you’re unsure, please check your invitation or feel free to reach out to us for clarification.

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

We love your little ones, but we are only inviting children to the wedding if they are specifically listed on the RSVP. Children under 3 years old do not need to RSVP, but please reach out and let us know if they will be joining us for the celebration.

Question

What’s the best way to get to Dripping Springs from Austin or San Antonio?

Answer

The easiest way to get to Dripping Springs is by car. From Austin (AUS), it’s about a 40-45 minute drive, and from San Antonio (SAT), it’s about 1 hour and 10 minutes. You can rent a car, use a ride-sharing service like Uber, or carpool with other guests.

Question

What should I do if I’m coming from out of town?

Answer

If you're traveling from out of town, we recommend flying into either Austin or San Antonio. You’ll find a variety of things to do in both cities and in Dripping Springs, so check out our recommendations on the “Things to Do” page for activities in the area. You'll find reccomended hotels on the "Travel" page.

Question

Will there be food and drinks at the wedding?

Answer

Absolutely! We’ll have a delicious meal and a variety of non-alcoholic beverages to keep everyone refreshed and energized for the celebration. If you have any specific dietary restrictions, please let us know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Texas in early July is typically HOT, with daytime temperatures averaging in the high 80s to mid-90s °F or higher and cooler evenings in the 70s °F. Our ceremony and reception will be indoors with air conditioning, so you’ll be comfortable regardless of the weather. If you plan to step outside during the cocktail hour or while exploring the area, we recommend lightweight, breathable fabrics to stay cool. It’s also a great idea to travel with a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated while you're out and about.
