The dress code is semi-formal. Think cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, or suits without the tuxedo stress - classy, but still ready to hit the dance floor! For those wearing heels, we recommend block heels over stiletto style to better navigate the cobblestone street charm...

For guests staying at Convento São Paulo, on-site parking will be available throughout duration of stay. If staying elsewhere, we kindly ask that you use one of the following transportation options, as parking at the venue is limited: 1. Complimentary Shuttle Service – We will provide round-trip transportation for guests staying in the city of Estremoz, approximately 20 minute drive from the venue. The shuttle will depart from Pousada Castelo Estremoz. Exact timing and pickup details will be shared closer to the date. 2. Private Transport – Uber and local taxi services are also available. With the exception of our amazing nieces and nephews, we will be keeping the celebrations as adult-only. We hope this offers you the perfect excuse for a well-deserved getaway and a little time to unwind!
We’d love to include everyone, but due to space limitations, we are keeping our guest list intimate. If your invitation includes a guest by name or a “plus one,” they are warmly invited. If not, we truly appreciate your understanding—and can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Your presence is truly our present - we know it’s no small feat to travel overseas, and we are so grateful that you are making the journey to celebrate with us! We are also fortunate to have more than enough kitchenware and gadgets (with not quite enough space to store them!). But if you would like to contribute, we have set up a honeymoon fund, which you can find in the Registry Section.
Only a passport is necessary for US Citizens traveling less than 90 days in Portugal! No visas required. Make sure your passport expiration date is more than 6 months after your travel dates and you're good to go!
Q: Do I need to speak Portuguese? A: Not at all, but it’s fun to try! Most locals speak fluent English, especially in hospitality, but here are some handy phrases: Olá! – Hello! Por favor – Please Obrigado / Obrigada – Thank you (male/female speaker) Desculpe – Excuse me / Sorry Fala inglês? – Do you speak English? Onde fica o banheiro? – Where’s the bathroom? Mais vinho, por favor! – More wine, please! Q: What’s the tipping etiquette in Portugal? A: Tipping isn’t mandatory, but is always appreciated - rounding up or leaving 5–10% for great service is perfect. Q: Can I drink the tap water? A: Yes! Tap water is safe and drinkable across Portugal. Q: Do I need a converter for my electronics? A: Yep! Portugal uses 220V and Type C/F plugs (the round two-prong kind). Q: Is Portugal safe? A: Portugal is one of the safest countries in Europe! Just keep an eye on your stuff in touristy areas like most countries (e.g. no phones or wallets in back pockets on public transportation). Q: Will my phone work in Portugal? A: Most U.S. phones work as normal in Portugal, but it depends on your carrier and plan: - If you have an international plan (like Verizon or AT&T), you will have normal service without needing to activate or prepare ahead of time - just be aware of daily roaming fees (usually around $10/day). - Want to avoid the fees? Consider getting an eSIM or a local SIM card for cheaper data. Popular options like Vodafone, MEO, and NOS offer tourist-friendly plans with plenty of data. - Free Wi-Fi is widely available at hotels, cafés, and restaurants, so you can also rely on that for casual scrolling and map-checking. - Pro tip: Download Google Maps offline and WhatsApp before you go - most locals and vendors use WhatsApp to communicate.
