Rudy and I visited this on one of our last trips, and it was truly unforgettable. You start with a sunset cruise and arrive at a beautiful beach surrounded by jungle. The candlelit dinner, the atmosphere, and the show were all incredible. No regrets at all — I totally recommend this experience.
El malecon is situated in downtown Puerto Vallarta. It's a 12 block promenada filled with stunning sculptures — a must-see for all the art lovers with the beach as its background. Has vendors in stores throughout the walk so you can snack or shop. Day or night you'll love to walk down the malecon and see the beautiful Bay of Puerto Vallarta
Downtown Puerto Vallarta While you’re visiting my last recommendation, I also highly suggest taking some time to explore downtown Puerto Vallarta. This area is the heart of the city — full of charm, color, and coastal beauty. You’ll wander through cobblestone streets lined with local boutiques, lively bars, and family-owned restaurants serving authentic Mexican dishes. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with artists, musicians, and street performers adding to the vibrant energy. As you walk, you’ll catch beautiful views of the Bay of Banderas, especially along the iconic Malecón, where sculptures, ocean breezes, and sunsets make the experience unforgettable.
Zona Romántica is another beautiful area to explore and enjoy during your stay. Much like El Centro, it’s filled with quaint restaurants, charming shops, and local art galleries. It also comes alive at night, offering great nightlife for anyone who loves to dance, mingle, or simply take in the vibrant atmosphere. While you’re there, you can visit Playa Los Muertos — one of the most iconic beaches in Puerto Vallarta. Enjoy a gorgeous dinner at one of the beachfront restaurants or take a relaxing stroll to El Muelle de Playa Los Muertos, the famous pier with stunning views, especially at sunset.
Sayulita is a small hippie beach town with laid-back vibes, charming local shops, and a beach perfect for relaxing. Just about an hour from Puerto Vallarta, it’s easy to get to by car, bus, or shuttle.
Vallarta Adventures is a great option if you enjoy booking tours during your vacation. They offer a wide variety of experiences, including whale watching, dolphin encounters, zip-lining, ATV adventures, visits to quaint towns, and guided tours of many of Puerto Vallarta’s most popular beaches.
Puerto Vallarta is home to many beautiful beaches worth exploring. Playa Los Muertos, located in the heart of the Romantic Zone, is one of the most popular and easiest to access. From there, you can also visit smaller, more quaint beaches such as Conchas Chinas, Playa Colomitos, Yelapa, Playa Majahuitas, Las Caletas, Playa Escondida, and Mismaloya Beach, many of which are highly recommended by visitors. Most of these beaches are accessible by water taxi departing from Playa Los Muertos, the main beach in Puerto Vallarta. These stunning, intimate beaches are perfect for soaking up the sun, swimming in crystal-clear water, and relaxing by the shore. Some even offer beach bars where you can enjoy a refreshing margarita or cold beer.
Great place for breakfast or early lunch! They offer complimentary pan dulce, and you can’t go wrong with a woman making fresh tortillas. Rudy had the machaca and I had the chilaquiles—both were extremely delicious. It’s a little less touristy and seems to be a favorite among locals.
Don’t let the location or looks of this restaurant fool you. Although it may be humble, it has some of the best birria we’ve had! They offer both beef and goat, along with a variety of other delicious menu items. I’m a classic, so I went with a traditional bowl of birria with a side of homemade tortillas—absolutely delicious.
One of Rudy’s favorites is a little taco shop in the Zona Romántica. Don’t be surprised if you have to stand in line—it’s super popular with both locals and visitors!
Located in the heart of Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone, this popular and well-known spot is celebrated for its stunning setting and romantic ambiance. As you enjoy your meal, a live violinist fills the air with modern music, creating an unforgettable dining experience.
Another gem in Zona Romántica, this spot is highly recommended for its delicious seafood dishes.
A romantic gem in Puerto Vallarta, this outdoor restaurant is nestled among lush trees, creating an intimate and serene atmosphere. Known for its high-end, inventive menu and multiple culinary awards, dining here is a truly memorable experience.
A favorite among locals, this spot is famous for its marlin fish burritos—a must-visit for anyone in Puerto Vallarta.
