Question

What's the best way to get to the ceremony?

Answer

The church where the ceremony will take place, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located on 55 Cranberry Street between Hicks Street and Henry Street in Brooklyn Heights. The subway is a great way to travel to the church. The closest station is the Clark Street stop on the 2 / 3 line. The A train to High Street is also convenient. And the B25 bus to Cadman Plz/Cadman Tower stop will leave you a short walk to the church. If you travel by taxi, Uber or Lyft, the cross streets are Henry Street and Hicks Street. You can visit the church's web site for more information: https://oratorychurch.org/

Question

Where can I park for the ceremony?

Answer

The church does not have a public parking lot. Street parking is extremely difficult in the Brooklyn Heights historic district. Because of narrow streets, do not park in any areas marked NO STANDING-FIRE ZONE. Parking meters are not in effect on Sundays in New York City, but may be on Saturday - read the signs. Various paid parking lots and garages are within 2-3 blocks of the church along Cadman Plaza West and Clinton Street.

Question

How far is the reception from the ceremony?

Answer

The reception will be in lower Manhattan, and about 15-20 minutes from the ceremony by Subway or car.

Question

Where is the best place to hail a cab to get from the church to the Down Town Association?

Answer

The church is on Cranberry Street, which is a beautiful little street in Brooklyn Heights, but a lot of taxis won't necessarily go onto it because other than the church, it's primarily a residential street. Once you exit the church, head to either cross street for taxis. You can also call an Uber, Lyft or local car service.

Question

What's up with the green taxis? Are they safe?

Answer

Yes! Hail a green taxi! In NYC's 'outer boroughs,' like Brooklyn, in addition to the traditional yellow cabs, there are also green cabs. If a taxi is green, it means that the driver is allowed to pick you up in Brooklyn and take you to anyplace in NYC. Green cabs however are not allowed to pick up in Manhattan. They were launched several years ago to help increase safe transportation options from boroughs outside of Manhattan, around the city.
