Ring ring ring. “Hey, it’s Vanessa. Boiling Point is closed. Do you want to get ramen instead?” And it was then, Daniel knew she was the one. Their first meal together so happened to be Daniel’s favorite dish — ramen. Vanessa had just finished her NCLEX and Daniel wanted to treat her out to a nice dinner. What Vanessa thought would just be a free dinner turned out to be a life changing night. After dinner, they spent hours in the parking lot talking about everything and anything, laughing and sharing their life story. It was undeniable the connection between them was real. If only the night didn’t have to end. Daniel asked if he could see her right away and Vanessa said yes. Date number two was the very next day. . . and the rest is history.
As soon as Daniel had the ring, he couldn’t wait any longer. The very next Saturday, he convinced Vanessa to go to the park with him. With their Japan trip coming up, Daniel claimed he wanted to practice his photography skills so Vanessa would have some nice pictures to take home. "Let’s go to the park so I can practice," he said. They drove to Carbon Canyon Regional Park—a beautiful spot with redwood trees and a lake. During their stroll along the lake, a kind stranger (actually Daniel’s former coworker) asked if they’d like a picture. In return, the stranger offered to take their photo. Still unsuspecting, Vanessa agreed. As they posed for the camera, Daniel got down on one knee and asked for Vanessa’s hand in marriage. Completely surprised, Vanessa said yes! They celebrated with an intimate dinner at Yakiya.
