Our Story

I love you today

Six years sure does fly by. Seven years ago, Stephanie and Will did not even know each other. Six and some odd years ago, fate was meddling in both their lives to make sure that by March of 2013 they were an item. That was when Stephanie and Will laid eyes on each other for the first time while out at a local college bar. Yet despite Will’s quick wit and charming pickup lines, he was not quick enough to get the young Stephanie’s phone number before she left the bar. This led to a nickname Cinderella, but also them possibly never seeing each other again. . . Of course fate has a way of working its special kind of magic in life, and this story is no exception. The two soon reconnected, and over a series of dates Stephanie knew she had a keeper. The only issue was she was moving to the other side of the world for her internship in Germany. However, absence truly does make the heart grow fonder, and the eight thousand miles that separated Will from Stephanie gave him the courage to officially ask her to be his girlfriend. Obviously she said yes, or this story would have ended a long time ago. . . . Stephanie eventually came home, and the two moved to Portland. But life has a way of changing in ways you never expect, and if we flash forward we will find the two in Austin, Texas. After two short years, Stephanie finished graduate school and it was finally time to move back home to Portland (the city where Will popped the question!). Now you’re all caught up. See! Six years really does fly by. In between wedding planning they enjoy spending time with their pup, Bruno, hiking all over Oregon, traveling, and a good glass of cheap red wine while watching reality tv. Sounds like they’re ready to get married, and you’re invited! We’re excited to watch the next hundred years fly by together, and we’re happy to have you be a part of it all.

The Proposal

New Years Eve fell on a Monday this year. Mondays are Will’s long days at work, and this Monday was to be no exception. At least that was what Stephanie thought. So in the morning, Will got dressed for work and kissed Stephanie goodbye. He told her he would be seeing her after work, hopefully in time to ring in the New Year. During that day, Will spent most of his time texting his future groomsman, Branden. On any other day, this would be quite usual. However today, Will was texting Branden about something very special. Will was texting Branden how he was, in fact, not working all day. Will was texting Branden about how to get Stephanie to a specific place at a specific time with a specific intention in mind. That specific time was roughly in the afternoon and the specific place was somewhere on Mount Tabor. The intention was for Will to propose to Stephanie. Stephanie had no idea of any of this, so she dawdled at the grocery store getting cups and plates. Despite Branden’s best efforts, Stephanie did not arrive at the specific place at the specified time. But don’t worry, this story has a happy ending. After anxiously pacing around the top of Mount Tabor, Will spied his target. We would hate to keep you in suspense, so we will tell you now that she said yes. What followed was surprise drinks with their family, and a surprise party with close friends complete with a perfectly decorated house (courtesy of Will’s best man, James).
