This story began 11 years ago. Dane and Val met on Maui while participating in a STEM program through UH. Over time, they became best friends and were inseparable. They would spend hours talking on the phone or video chatting on skype. The beach days, the hikes, the little moments — each one became more significant than the last. On May 18, 2014, Dane surprised Val with a picnic on the beach. After watching the fireworks, he asked Val to be his girlfriend, marking the beginning of their incredible journey together. On June 1, 2022, Dane and Val took another big step in their journey—purchasing their first home together. Their days became filled with all the little things they had been missing. Sunday resets and chores turned into shared adventures, and they enjoyed the simple pleasure of being in each other's company. From grocery shopping to Netflix binges, everything became more special now that they were living together. On April 14th, 2024, surrounded by their families and closest friends, Dane asked Val the most important question of their lives: "Will you marry me?" And so, with great joy and excitement, their forever began. Mark your calendars for May 2025, because that's when Dane and Val will celebrate 11 years together.
