For women: Floor-length dresses are recommended, and color is highly encouraged! Think bright, vibrant hues and fun textures that match the tropical setting. For men: A linen suit is ideal. Keep it classic and polished - stay cool! Not sure what we mean? Text Val, and she’ll send you a pic of the vibe/vision board!
Yes, absolutely yes! You do not need a visa for Mexico but a valid passport is required. For important information about obtaining a passport, please visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel.html
Please book as soon as possible! December is the beginning of the high season in Zihuatanejo and the flights will be full. Please let us know if you need help finding flights, we are more than happy to help!
Fly into Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport (ZIH). Visit the TRAVEL link on our website for more information about flights.
While we adore your children, our wedding venue and other activities do not have the room for your little ones. Please make it a "mom and dad's getaway weekend" :)
No. The taxi to get from the airport to Zihuatanejo is $40 per local regulation. Once in Zihuatanejo, taxis are abundant and a taxi ride from any part of the village to the next will cost about $4 USD.
Yes, you will need pesos upon arrival for your taxi, as it’s the only transportation option from the airport (unless your hotel offers a shuttle service). Most hotels and restaurants accept major credit cards, but you’ll need pesos for tips, small shops, and some meals. You can exchange cash at the airport currency exchange upon arrival, or use a local ATM for a better exchange rate once you're in town! Don’t forget to notify your bank that you’ll be traveling abroad to avoid any issues with your cards. Tip: The exchange rate general rule is 1 dollar equals 20 pesos.
Zihuatanejo offers many options for accommodations to fit all budgets. We recommend staying anywhere around the Zihuatanejo Bay to be close to all the wedding festivities. Please see the TRAVEL tab for more information and recommendations. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.
Enjoy year-round good weather and many activities like snorkeling, jet skiing, kayaking, fishing, diving, biking, hiking, horseback riding, other water sports and of course eating! As a functioning fishing village, Zihuatanejo offers fresh seafood and traditional Mexican cuisine.
A Google search about the safety of Mexico can always lead to some uncertainty. While Zihuatanejo’s State of Guerrero has had issues very deep into the mountainous interior of the region with higher crime rates and violence, the town is situated far from any of this on the coastline. The town itself along with the Mexican Government has kept Zihua incredibly safe, designating it as a Federally protected area, due to plenty of tourists from Canada, the US and other nations frequently visiting annually. During our visit early this year we had zero issues with safety, but as a general rule of thumb when traveling anywhere, it's a good idea not to bring tons of valuables and of course be aware of your surroundings.
The biggest cost will be the flights, so again please book early to get the best deal. The rest of the trip is flexible depending on where you stay and what you would like to do. We found the town to be super affordable - think nice meals for $20 (for 2 people), $2 beers/$4 mixed drinks, $3-5 taxi rides, and many cheap or free activities.
