There might be a Subway located in the parking lot of The Hampton Inn but if you're looking to grab a sandwich for lunch, it's SO worth it to get yourself up to Beta's on State Street. The bread is fresh baked, the meat is sliced as they make your sandwich; it's just so delicious. And you could walk over to Manning's for dessert.
Manning Farm Dairy is a fourth-generation family farm in North Abington Township, PA. Manning's homemade ice cream starts well before the cream and sugar. They start with the food grown on the farm that they feed to our cows. They grow the crops that their cows like to eat -- since happy cows are productive cows. Then they milk their cows twice a day, every day. They bottle their milk, make ice cream, and deliver it to their stores daily. Manning's homemade starts with the farm. You'll fall in love with their wide range of ice cream flavors, ice cream pies, and ice cream cakes. Stop by for your milk and have a cone to brighten your day! (Multiple locations)
Old Forge style pizza is something you can't get anywhere else on the planet. It's worth the trip to "The Pizza Capital of the World" to experience some of the most delicious pizza ever. But you should know, it's not typical in more than its shape. It's very basic. There aren't many options for toppings, if there are any. This seems to confuse people. A family favorite, Ghigiarelli's can best be described as a "hole in the wall". If you've ever eaten at a bowling alley, that is what it comes closest to aesthetically. But this is all irrelevant once you taste the pizza. If you go to Old Forge, order "a tray of red", "a tray of white" and a glass of house wine or a beer. This order applies whether you go to Ghigiarelli's or one of the other highly recommended establishments like Revello's or Arcaro & Genell. If you're looking to stay in the Clarks Summit area try Nick's favorite Colarusso's or Armetta's.
