Our story began about six years ago in a place neither of us probably imagined would become the beginning of everything: Alaska. At the time, Vaish was there as a student and Yancie was stationed in Alaska with the Air Force. Somewhere along the way, Alaska became more than a chapter in each of our individual lives—it became the place where our life together began. Six years later, our story had taken us quite a few miles from where it started. From living in Michigan to Virginia, we have made countless memories and some great friends along the way. Last summer, we planned a trip together to Vietnam and Japan. Vaish planned our adventures in Japan, while Yancie took the lead on Vietnam. What Vaish didn't know was that Yancie had one more plan of his own. During a two-day river cruise in Vietnam, Yancie secretly enlisted the help of the cruise staff to create the perfect surprise. While we were at dinner, they transformed the space with coconut leaves and flowers. And then, surrounded by the beauty of Vietnam, Yancie asked Vaish to marry him. She said yes!! Now, from meeting in Alaska to getting engaged halfway around the world, our next adventure brings us to the Blue Ridge Mountains, to Rock Spring Mountain Farm in Virginia—and we can't wait to celebrate it with all of you.
