There are about 40 good reasons why people come from all over the world for a Richmond craft beer experience. These breweries are tucked throughout the region, and 10 of them are all right in a neighborhood called Scott’s Addition. Our favorite is The Veil, but here are a few more worth checking out: Ardent Craft Ales Legend Brewing Vasen Brewing Three Notch’d Center of The Universe
Carytown is Richmond’s quirky, ever-changing neighborhood. Intentionally avoiding historic designation so that creative storefronts could stand out, this mile-long stretch of Cary St. is colorful, loud, and fun. Carytown has everything: shopping, bars, restaurants, farmers market, you name it.
Belle Isle is a preserved park island right in the middle of the James downtown. This part of the James River Park System can be reached by pedestrian footbridge from Tredegar St. on the north shore. Large flat rocks surrounding the island make for good sunbathing, but the powerful Hollywood Rapids are not to be toyed with and are not suitable for swimming. Additional features include wooded trails, interpreted historical sites, mountain biking trails, wheelchair-accessible fishing at the quarry pond, and a granite wall for rock climbing.
