Don’t worry, it’s a short one! We met while we were both working at Willow Oaks Country Club. (Surprise! Our wedding is at the very same place.) Tim was the Executive Chef at the club already when I began working as a Banquet Manager. Definitely not qualified to have gotten this position, I had a lot of learning to do. Let me tell you, I never asked Tim for help! Instead, we worked together for several months without having any real conversations. Then, on one of the longest working days of the year, we began to test the waters of what speaking words to each other might be like. As it turns out, we liked talking to one another! Over the next year there was the whirlwind of a job trial in San Francisco and then moving across the country together a month later. Most people probably wouldn’t move to the opposite coast after only knowing someone for a few months, but it seems to be a trend in the Tharp Family.
One year after being in our new city of San Francisco, Tim and I took our second trip to the Hawaiian islands. Tim made the vacation a little extra special with a surprise proposal on the morning of July 4th, 2023. We had talked about our future together but I definitely did not know Tim had purchased a ring already, let alone had it with him on this vacation!
