The Wedding Website of Alex Phillips and Tyler Hughley
Meet the family and friends that will walk Tyler & Alex down the aisle.

Tyler Hughley

Bride

Although most of you probably can't believe that Tyler is old enough to marry someone, here she is! She has been called "the baby" for her whole life, and even though she leans in a little too hard on that she cannot wait to celebrate the woman that she has become and the relationship that she has with Alex with all of you! You've seen her grow up behind her turntables and at her family's Christmas parties (also on the turntables), but she can't wait to be front and center celebrating.

Alex Phillips

Bride

Some of you probably still see her as Raquel (that’s Alex's birth name for those of you who joined the party after 2009), the shy little girl hiding behind her mom’s legs at a family function. Others of you know her as Alex, the fun, hot, confident, smart, talented (too much?) woman that Tyler brought home during the Hughley family Christmas party in 2017 who never left. Although her parents share most of her life’s accomplishments on their Facebook posts before she can, Alex is so excited to celebrate her wedding with all of you in October!

Ryan Shepard

Tyler's Matron of Honor

One night when Ryan was three years old she wished for a baby sister, and voila! Tyler was born that next year. Some people may find their love obsessive: they call each other (at least) five times a day to talk mostly about nothing, and when they're together Ryan can always be heard asking Tyler for "the kisses”. Tyler couldn’t imagine taking this important journey in her life with out Ryan by her side and she’s so happy she said yes to being her matron of honor and for always having her sisters back no matter what.

Morgan "MJ" McManus

Alex's Matron of Honor

Alex and Morgan met on their first day of high school. Alex was completely lost while looking for her biology class, and Morgan cruised down the hall in her new pair of heels. As Alex rushed in what she hoped was the right direction she watched in horror as Morgan fell down the entire flight of stairs in front of everyone. Alex rushed to help her and asked, "are you okay?" to which Morgan glared at Alex and replied, "NO" before running away. Later during lunch, another one of Alex's friends invited her to sit at her table, and to Alex's surprise there was Morgan. The rest, as they say, was history and they have been inseparable ever since. Alex could NOT imagine getting married without Morgan by her side and just hopes that Morgan can make it down the aisle without falling.

Akeishein "Keke" Wells

Tyler's Bridesmaid

Besides Alex and Fitz (tyler's dog), Keke is one of the best things Tyler has ever brought home. Tyler met Keke when she transferred to The Academy of Arts University and they became roommates. During their time in San Francisco they became so close that Tyler made Keke move to LA and move in with her family. Tyler and her family like to say that Keke showed up at their house one day six years ago and never left. Keke might have to physically hold Tyler up at the end of the aisle if she passes out, but it's okay because she's definitely strong enough! #Undefeated!!

Rose Baugh

Alex's Bridesmaid

Alex and Rose met on the first day at William & Mary. They should have known what they were in for when they saw the hundred year old bunk bed shoved into their closet-sized room. And Alex should definitely have known what she was in for with Rose when she pulled her aside during orientation and told her that one of their OAs had a crush on Alex...and then forced them to awkwardly be alone. From taking a guy's car to get off campus breakfast (without him), accidentally being charged for 1,000,000 orders of rice, yelling AHOO across parties as a signal that it was time to go, almost having to exorcise Rose in her sleep on Halloween, and their annual West Coast visits, Rose is the only one Alex could imagine handing her her last shot before she walks down the aisle.

Michelle "Mickey" Brunson

Tyler's Bridesmaid

Mickey and Tyler have always had a special cousin bond, but it really blossomed when they got older. Mickey has become one of Tyler’s best friends and is always one call away whenever Tyler needs to vent or just wants a laugh. Tyler and Mickey really solidified their bond during a trip to Coachella in 2014 when Tyler "got sick" and Mickey saved Tyler from passing out. Even though Tyler protested while Mickey took her home, she knew right then and there that Mickey would always have her back and that's exactly why she couldn't imagine having anyone else go through this process with her!

Briana Villalabos

Alex's Bridesmaid

Alex and Briana became friends at one fateful New Years Eve party a few years ago where Briana earned her nickname "Bianca." Briana is best friends with Tyler's cousin/bridesmaid Mickey, and together the four of them have had the best weekend sleepovers and wine tasting outings in recorded history. You can always find Briana texting Alex about astrology, bonding over their love for their late grandmothers, or sending each other a constant stream of dog-pictures. Briana has become the friend that Alex can always count on for a good time or to tell someone off while she wears her giant black sunglasses, and that's why Alex couldn't picture a bridal party without her.

Jessica Pretty

Tyler's Bridesmaid

Jessica and Tyler have known each other since elementary. They met through Tyler’s cousin Brandon and instantly became friends. Tyler and Jessica solidified their bond for life when they went to Afropunk together in 2017. Tyler and Jess are always sure to hit up Pig & Khao whenever they're both in New York, and Tyler can always count on Jess to tell it EXACTLY like it is. Although they're separated by 3,000 miles, Jessica has been a huge part of Tyler and Alex's relationship and Tyler can't wait to party down with Jess in May.

Davina Hefflin

Alex's Bridesmaid

Davina and Alex met when Alex was just leaving one of her first Hollywood jobs. They immediately bonded over their aspirations to make an impact in Television and what it means to be queer black women in the industry. They've been friends and a shoulder for each other to lean on about everything from their careers to dates gone wrong (Alex still has to apologize for a particularly bad date she sent Davina on years ago...) It's so rare to find a genuine friend in this industry and town, and luckily Davina and Alex continue to show up for each other and have made it clear that they'll be life-long friends.

Ashley "Lewis" Lewis

Tyler's Bridesmaid

Lou!!! Louis and Tyler met through her Tyler’s sister Ryan. And honestly Louis and Dani are two of the best things Ryan has done for Tyler (besides bringing home Da NOLIE and Shep). Tyler knew she had a real one in Louis during New Years Eve one year and that’s all she’ll say about that :)

Danielle "Dani" Gilliam-Moore

Tyler's Bridesmaid

Tyler and Dani also met through her sister Ryan. Honestly the reason Tyler feels a closeness to Dani and Louis specifically is because they remind her so much of her sister. Dani is someone Tyler could call right now for anything in this world and Dani would either get it done or mess somebody up for messing with Tyler. If anything it’s just like having another big sister, someone you can always count on.

Joshua Meekins

Alex's Bridesman

Alex and Josh have been friends since the summer before freshman year of high school. They shared a ton of classes, their advisor (shout out Mr. Baldwin for helping us both not fail math!!), and many awkward diversity brochure pictures (see: prom & graduation). Although they've grown up a lot since then and Josh is finally taller than Alex, they've continued to nerd out about Marvel movies, and Alex still constantly asks when he's moving to LA. Being a bridesman isn't a traditional bridal party role but it's one that Alex had to create because she couldn't imagine not capturing pictures of Josh crying possibly more than she will on her big day.
