Jasmine is one of many of Brandi's little cousins but so special. Whenever she goes to Gary, Jasmine greets her with a big smile on her face. Somehow Brandi manages to do cartwheels with her and chat about all things "tween" including styling their hair the same way! Jasmine is such a bright ray of sunshine whenever she is around!

Toki is Brandi's cousin who has always been protective of her whenever she visits Gary. When they were little, kids wanted to make fun of Brandi's California "valley girl" dialect, Toki would be right there ready to set them straight. She is not only protective but wants Brandi to have a good time whenever they go out! Visiting Michael Jackson's house in the middle of the night, watching a street fight in Richmond or driving to the beach for a trip gone all the way wrong are some of their latest adventures!

Brandi's earliest memory of Maya is one she doesn't remember, everyone tells her Maya held her when she was a baby! Brandi has always wanted to be as graceful and dignified as Maya. When she stayed with Maya over the summer in middle school, she enjoyed learning the pleasantries of being a Southern Belle. She had a great time going on a road trip visiting all the HBCU's across the south. Maya and Brandi's Aunt Marge taught her it's okay to be fancy, sometimes or even ALL the time! The fancy dresses that Laighla wears have all come from Maya and her Aunt Marge!
Danielle

Danielle is the yin to Brandi's yang! When Brandi asked Danielle if she would lead a Girl Scout troop of 20 girls with her for a few years she jumped in with no hesitation! They love to see movies on $7 Tuesdays and discuss plot twists because of Danielle's studies in film. Brandi texts her whenever she don't understand a movie plot and weird camera angles!!

When you need a deep thinker to give you the Twilight Zone alternative, Shivaughn never fails. Faithfully Brandi receives a daily to weekly text message in the middle of the night of a conspiracy theory about celebrities. When you want to laugh and have a fun time discussing world politics, Shivaughn is on point. Brandi has learned so much about Latino culture and delicious food because of "Shivy!"
